Each year the Education Foundation sponsors a Used Book Sale. All books are donated and we re-sell them at a minimal price to students. Volunteers help price books, set up tables, organize and sort materials for the Sale. We need volunteers from 6 - 9 pm on Tuesday January 22. We host a meal along with a short orientation for Volunteers.

The purpose of this opportunity is to get help in setting up for the Sale. We have discovered so many learning benefits from this sale. From recycling books, sharing the love of reading with kids and also creating a place where kids can feel good about themselves buying affordable books with their loose change. It's a great activity and we have been so fortunate to have the help of Kohl's for almost 10 years.

The goal of this activity is to provide insight on the importance of pursuing your hopes and dreams. Many people give up on their dreams if they don't have support and encouragement. This vision board workshop is important because it provides a platform for those with little hope to be inspired to set goals and fulfill them by putting action behind them.

WEEKLY STATION SHIFT
Volunteering at Spark Central is a great way serve the community. As a station (center) volunteer, you commit to be available at the Spark Central for three hours once a week —any shift you choose. You’ll welcome people who come in, learn how to run the center, be a living resource for those seeking help with a project, or share with those who just want to chat about who you are and what you know. It's a great way to help others, connect with like-minded people, and hang out in a space where exciting connections will be happening all the time.

SHIFT SUBSTITUTE
Can't commit to being a station volunteer? Become a substitute and help cover center shifts when others can't make it. We'll add you to our list and call if there's an open center shift; you decide if you can come in or not. Please contact us if interested.

As many as 60% of students enter Link Community Charter School reading below grade level. To narrow the gap and improve reading skills, Link Education Partners runs a twice annual Book Giveaway and Reading Challenge (winter and summer) for Link Community Charter School scholars. We need your help to put high level, reading level appropriate books into their hands, along with engaging activities, to encourage them to
read and improve their reading skills.

You can help! Join us for #LinkReads Winter Literacy Service Project to support middle school literacy. Help us organize over 400 books and materials for our Summer Book Giveaway and Reading Challenge.

What to expect:
• You will kick off the activity with light refreshments, a short program, and introduction to the service activities.
• A staff or Link scholar will lead you and other volunteers through the book sorting project – sorting, leveling, and cataloging books, as well as assembling reading challenge
materials.
• End the day with a quick photo shoot with our students and volunteers from your shift!

Contact Natalia Sardo at nsardo@linkedupartners.org to register.
