Freedom to Read, Inc. is working to set up two Google Training Sessions here on Eleuthera: Central Eleuthera High School and North Eleuthera High School. The dates are flexible for 2023.
We will drive to the sites, do our work, provide training for the staff... then hit the BEACH! This is a win-win for all involved.

Eleuthera Island is one of the Family Islands in the Bahamian Archipelago. It is 110 miles long and 2 miles wide ~ AT ITS WIDEST POINT! Driving the length of Eleuthera will thrill your senses as you can see the deep blue Atlantic to the West and the stunning turquoise Exuma Sound to the East... very often you can see both sides at the same time! Simply incredible in its unsung natural beauty.

If you are looking to serve native Bahamians through free access to technology in our libraries... this is the volunteer trip for you! Freedom to Read, Inc. will take care of the vehicle and gas to get to our sites...no small thing when gas can be over $6 a gallon! Yikes!

For years now, Khan Academy provides a free, worldclass education for anyone, anywhere. What we do is work on its localization, awareness and adoption in Bulgarian. Your donations will help us bring this free, prominent digital learning resource to thousands of Bulgarian children, especially those more than 40% without access to quality education.

We empower Bulgarian students to learn at their own pace in and outside the classroom: The Bulgarian localization of Khan Academy will give Bulgarian kids access to 10 000 world-class video lessons and 100 000 interactive exercises in math, science and other subjects - free for everyone, everywhere. With Khan Academy, students learn while having fun, and parents and teachers easily follow and foster their performance. We want to let Bulgaria participate in this global community of 66 million learners worldwide!

You could contribute to our cause by:
1. becoming Khan Academy Ambassador: spread the word about it and/or organize fundraising events in your community;
2. helping us with technical analyses or by finding IT solutions in our work with data;
3. translating;
4. proofreading;
5. video editing;
6. dubbing;
7. giving us expert advice on the localization in: physics, biology, chemistry, astronomy and cosmology;
8. mentoring students with Khan Academy.

We are requesting help with assembling 2,000 fans for our fundraiser. The fundraiser spans over all 5 elementary schools in Zionsville. It is our main fundraiser for all schools. Our goals for each school is different but the overall goal is to support all classroom needs throughout the school year with this one fundraiser. We support classroom needs such as technology, reading materials, supplies, student support grants, teacher project grants and other various activities to support learning in our schools. We receive sponsorship for this fundraiser and those sponsors are printed on the fans we are asking for help with. We will provide all materials needed to assemble the fans.

Please help us run our Book Fair during our Open House. Our school has been rebuilt and this will be our first book fair in the new media center. We are raising money to fill our shelves and decorate the Media Center. We need help running registers, helping parents and students shop and to give directions to the Media Center.

Beacon Hill is seeking 75 Beacon Hill "HERO" volunteers to serve at over 15 school locations - 5 per site, to assist with our In-School Reading Tutoring Program at Various Learning Centers on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday in South Dallas, Oak Cliff, Fair Park, Pleasant Grove, Wilmer Hutchins, Cedar Crest and various Charter school locations. Weekly tutoring consist of 1 or 2 hour Flexible tutoring sessions based upon Volunteer schedule. Become a Tutor/Mentor to students in Pre-K - 5th grade and watch their Reading Confidence, skills and scores soar !

Opportunity Details

United Way of York County is partnering with local faith-based groups, schools, and nonprofit organizations to provide backpacks full of school supplies to York County kids in need. 5-7 volunteers are needed to help hand out backpacks to children and parents who applied for packs. Distribution will be held from 12-4pm, but volunteers are welcome to stay as long or as short as they'd like.

There are three distribution locations:

Opportunity Details

We are looking for tutors to tutor A Step Beyond students in all academic subjects. Our kids need basic homework help and some additional tutoring in math and reading.

The Roll and Read promotes literacy and also encourages families to spend time outdoors together. We set-up a 1/2 mile reading trail on the Greenway. Families walk the trail and stop at reading stations along the way where children get to hear books read. Each child can choose a book and stuffed animal reading buddy to talk home after walking the trail.

We are looking for some Kohls volunteers to come and help out at our book fair on Thursday August 16th from 5:45-8:45PM during Meet the Teacher Night at Grundy School in Morton, IL. Duties would include directing customer traffic into cashier lines, bagging orders at point of sale, and restocking merchandise.
