Normandy School Collaborative is seeking Volunteer Literacy Tutors to work with students at the High School and 7th & 8th Grade Center. We're seeking volunteers with a personal love of reading, a couple hours of availability each week, dedicated consistency and a willingness to learn a few new strategies.Volunteers allow one-on-one individualized attention to students struggling with reading skills. Why focus on reading? Without the ability to read at grade level, students are in a perpetual struggle to understand all textbooks and assignments. Without it, students are defined by what they can't do versus what they can do. By helping to build a foundation of reading skills, academic success in all subject areas in an achievable goal.
