Family Fun Fair sponsored by Fairfield County Early Childhood Association and aided by community partners is a FREE family event for families with children, birth to age 8 years. The goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for families to spend quality time together with their children and ALSO learn about what services are offered in our community for families. This is a win-win project, giving businesses, agencies and programs a chance to share an activity as they share what they have to offer for families.

Stevensville Schools Parent Teacher Club is helping to organize and staff the school's spring Scholastic Book Fair! The Book Fair is an incredible fundraiser for the school while promoting our students love of reading! This fundraiser provides the school opportunities to provide enriching opportunities for the students. It is a fun event! It is amazing watching the student's faces as they shop for their most loved books!
Our helpers would work on tidying up books as they are rummaged through and helping students and parents find what they are looking for.

Opportunity Details

Volunteer Tutors/Instructors are the backbone of MN2R. They meet with our adult students in one-to-one, small group, or small class settings and provide instruction, encouragement, and feedback. Tutors receive special training in adult education, English language instruction, and cultural sensitivity. They are also provided with continual support and resources by the MN2R staff. No prior teaching experience is necessary

Call for Instructors, Summer 2019
Established in 2014, Inside Literature (formerly Reading World Literature) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and community-based learning program that offers six-week literature courses at the Travis County Correctional Complex (TCCC). We are soliciting applications from individuals with advanced degrees in literature (M.A. or Ph.D.) or Texas teaching certificates to co-teach literature courses at the TCCC in the Summer of 2019. We also welcome applications for Assistant Instructors (undergraduates pursuing a degree or B.A.). If you are interested in using your literary knowledge and pedagogical training to get involved with your community, we welcome your application.
Instructors can commit to one to three courses during a trimester. We teach both male and female populations in minimum, medium, and maximum security settings. All instructors will be paired with another instructor to teach a text selected from Inside Literature’s curriculum. Each trimester has an overarching theme; the Summer 2019 theme is “Dystopias and Downfalls,” and these are the texts:

3. The Handmaid’s Tale​ by Margaret Atwood
4. World War Z ​by Max Brooks
5. Cat’s Cradle​ by Kurt Vonnegut
6. Othello b​y William Shakespeare
The time commitment to Inside Literature is 3-4 hours per week per course. This includes travel time to and from class, class time, and preparation. Instructors will teach in pairs, with new instructors paired with more experienced instructors. Instructors may opt for their classes to meet once a week for 90 minutes or twice a week for 60 minutes, depending on the length of the text and structure of the course. You will work with your co-instructor to develop your syllabus, lesson plans, and supplementary materials. Instructors may include media in their syllabus which will be subject to review by the Inside Literature program coordinator.
Minimum requirements for Inside Literature instructors:
• No convictions for any aggravated or sexual offenses.
• No outstanding warrants
• No arrests within the past 24 months
• If on Parole and/or Probation: (Normally applies to Substance Abuse/12 Step Programs)
• Must have a written recommendation from their Parole/Probation Officer • Must provide evidence of employment or legitimate means of livelihood • Must have been on Parole/Probation for at least 12 months without any incarceration time or adverse reports
Instructor responsibilities include:
• Complete the TCCC volunteer application, background-check, and mandatory orientation to obtain facility access
• Attend mandatory program orientation and observe one class before teaching
• Work with your co-instructor to prepare syllabus, lesson plans, vocabulary lists, and any supplementary materials needed for your course.
• Schedule your course times and days with the Inside Literature program coordinator
• Meet one to two times weekly with your class at the TCCC (60 to 90 minute courses)
• Upload all materials ongoingly to the Inside Literature team drive for review and program records
