Help us sort books by age, condition and category for communities in need! We use strictly volunteer power to get our books ready for distribution to schools, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, foster care programs, and other nonprofits that serve disadvantaged communities. Tens of thousands of books enter our warehouse on a weekly basis and the more volunteer power we get to help sort, the more books we get back out into the community. The more access to books, the more opportunities people have to read and increase their literacy skills to gain better life opportunities! Our warehouse is open Tuesday through Thursday 10am-3pm for individuals and groups. We can handle up to 30 people for a team-building event, and we suggest a minimum of 3 hours volunteering to get the full experience. We also do occasional weekend sorting as well.

The Friends of the Norman Library hosts a fall book sale, which generates money from the sale of gently used books, magazines and other media. The group could use volunteers to help work at the sale, as well as set up. I'll attach a list of available times.

The Friends of the Fox River Valley Public Library seek volunteers to help with the set up of their Fall 2019 book sale in October. Duties include moving and unpacking boxes of books and setting up tables. Volunteers can come for any three hour increment between the set-up hours of 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16.

Profits from the book sale are used to support the library and increase literacy. We provide support to the summer reading program, support the children's department, fund adult programs at the library and other community activities.

The sale will be held on Thursday, October 17 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
