Entheos Academy
2606 S 7200 W
Magna, UT 84044

To Whom it may concern,

My name is Candis MacDonald, I am coordinating a literacy week at Entheos Academy, a Title 1 charter school on the Magna/West Valley border. This will be a week long celebration of literacy that would include all of our students in K-8TH (495 students). It includes a reading challenge where students are asked to read as much as they can during the week and will end with an assembly where we will give away prizes to the top readers. We are doing this the week of April 9-13. All donations are appreciated!

Entheos Academy is a 501C3 non-profit organization (Federal Tax ID 20-2393662). Donations are tax deductible. Entheos is happy to publically recognize our sponsors in our school newsletter, our Facebook page, and live at events!

If you have any questions, please call or send me an email. My information is below. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Candis MacDonald

We LOVE to read!!!
Our spring book fair is quickly approaching and we are in need of volunteers to help! We want all students to have the opportunity to purchase items so the book fair is open ALL day! (lunch times are REALLY busy)

We are looking for volunteers to assist with the cash registers, helping students navigate through the fair and restocking shelves. The book fair is open from 7:45am - 3:45pm Monday, March 19 - Friday, March 23. And on Wednesday, March 21 until 6:00pm for our Family Night.

The book fair is the MAIN source of funds for our library. We are one of the few charter schools in Las Vegas who still have a library and would love to continue growing the collection for our students.

I will be extremely grateful for all help we receive as it positively impacts our students experience at the fair and in reading. We are just around the corner from you at 6610 Grand Montecito Pkwy.

Thank you,
Jenni Woodard-Stevens
Librarian

This event will happen as a follow-up to the Speak Up Reading Series (funded by RBC). The Speak Up series has allowed First Book Canada to organize four different reading celebrations across the country (Vaughan, Hamilton, Saskatoon, St. Johns) where we have arranged to have a prominent author come in to speak to each of the students in a grade 12 class about their latest book, their experiences as a writer, their creative process, and the lessons that they have learned over the years.

This event will give the RBC representatives a chance to re-enter these schools and to talk to the same grade 12 students about the importance of financial planning early in life before they embark on the next phase of their lives as independent adults. This event will be just under one hour in length. We will leave it up to the RBC representatives to use their creative freedoms here in this talk and to express this message in whatever way makes the most sense to them. We would love to have at least 2 representatives come in to this first event at C.W. Jefferys on Friday, April 27th from 12:30-1:45 p.m. in the library to meet the students and inflict their wisdom! If RBC has any literature or resources to provide the children to support this initiative, it would be wonderful as well.

If you have any questions at all regarding this event, please contact our National Engagement Coordinator, Tessa Eisenberg (teisenberg@firstbook.org) and she will be more than happy to assist you!

Thank you very much and we truly hope that you will be able to participate in this event!

The Butler County Early Care & Education Council (a community collaboration committed to school readiness, coordinated by Lifesteps) is requesting community involvement in local activities to celebrate the National Week of the Young Child this April. This annual celebration provides a special time to renew our community’s commitment to ensuring that every child has quality early experiences to help them grow up healthy, safe, and ready for school.
This year, we are again planning a community-wide event which will provide fun, educational activities and resources to support families of children ages birth through eight. With 90% of brain development occurring before age five, children’s experiences during these critical years provide the foundation for all future learning.
This year’s event theme, “Be the Star You Are!” will promote school readiness with a focus on self-esteem, accepting and celebrating differences, and positive behaviors. (Social-emotional skills and Character Education), following the theme of the book “My Cousin Momo”, by Zacharia O’Hora. Each family attending will receive a free copy of the book!

Your help is needed to make this year’s celebration a success!

Events will be held:

 Tuesday, April 17th from 10 am – 2 pm and 6 – 8 pm, North Main Street Church of God, Butler
 April 12th – 20th, Author visits and activities are being planned by several Butler County libraries

YOU can help in ANY of the following ways:

 Become an event Sponsor
 Volunteer to help where needed
 Donate food to feed volunteers and/or provide snacks for families
 Donate door prizes for the children and families
 Provide additional resources/presentations on Social/Emotional Development or School Readiness
 Participate as a VENDOR. (please read below)
Organizations wishing to participate as VENDORS on April 17th must complete the attached form AND provide/participate in an activity for children that promotes learning (Social Skills/Character Education)
For additional information about the book and sample activities, please visit www.paonebook.org.

To learn more about how YOU can get involved, contact Julie Thumma at Lifesteps (724) 283-1010 x310.

We look forward to partnering with you!
