We believe more than ever, this is a time to promote the importance of literacy in the home. We are building a library with uploaded videos of volunteers reading stories to our children in both English or Spanish. At the start of the video, volunteers should remember to introduce themselves with their First Name and the Title/Author of the book. Story readings where the reader dresses up, is joined by pets or stuffed animals, or reads with silly voices and high/low inflections, are lots of fun for our clients. It can be any children's book - pictures are always loved by the kids – and don’t forget to hold up the book so the child can look at the pictures with you! For our older youth, readings of chapter books are also welcome.

Our children and youth are accessing the videos using Google Classroom, therefore the easiest way for us to upload content is through Google Drive. For filming, we recommend using .mp4 or .MOV as the format. Once your recordings are complete, please share the files by uploading them using cloud software such as Google Drive (preferred), WeTransfer or DropBox with the following email: nacstorytime@gmail.com. We ask that volunteer please help us illustrate all of the readings by writing one or two sentences about why you chose to read a particular story.

**We ask that each volunteer please only submit one story.
If you have any questions, please contact us at volunteers@nackidscan.org.

What was your favorite book as a child? Did you have a book that you read over and over again because it brought you joy? Something that you bookmarked by folding the corners? Something you could read with your parent(s)?

Angelwish needs your inner child to help us put brand new books in the hands of children living with chronic illnesses. We need you (AND your team of volunteers) to pick out and purchase books that will be sent to the hospital below so that the social workers can give them to the parents to give to their children.

We will give you a budget and a list of kids ages to purchase for. The goal is to purchase as many new books as possible within the budget and deliver them to the hospital. When in doubt, it doesn't hurt to bring in real experts - and ask kids that you know, what their favorite books are/were.

Every child has potential to grow up and become productive, positive members of society. But some youth face barriers to success. You can be a role model - a friend - a mentor to help a child facing adversity achieve their full potential. Join Big Brothers Big Sisters to make a life-changing impact as a volunteer.

Choose one of three mentoring models that works best for you: Community-based (volunteers and children meet at a variety of locations, spending time in activities they choose based on mutual interest); School-based (volunteers meet during/after school hours at one of our partner school locations for mentoring focused on academic success); and mentor2.0 (volunteers engage with high school students virtually on an online platform and meet in person at the school about once a month).
