We’re looking for volunteers to help as stewards for the BCO Music Trail at Ruskin Park on Sunday 25 May - 3.00 pm - 6.00 pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to support free live music in the community while enjoying a day outdoors in a beautiful local park. Each steward will be assigned to a different location along the trail, ensuring everything runs smoothly at that location and the point of contact for the musician at that hidden spot. Not difficult but necessary!
What is required?
1. Get a briefing on Health and Safety and what to do at the Welcome desk in the Park at the Herne Hill entrance before the event starts - 3.00 pm
2. Take one or two folding chairs to the location you are assigned on the trail 3.30 pm and bring it back to the assigned storage location once finished - 5.30 pm
3. Stay close to the musician on the assigned location while they are performing to ensure a bit of safety for them (and company)
4. Report any challenges or health and safety issues while at the location to Project Manager. (Through Whats App group - you will be added when we start and deleted after event)
The musicians will play music as part of a seek and find game, as participants in the park will have a map, working out where the final performance in the park will take place by finding the 12 locations.
If you can join us—and perhaps bring along a friend or sibling —it would be hugely appreciated!

Latino Conservation Week (LCW) is an initiative created by Hispanic Access Foundation in 2014 to promote communities getting outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources. During this week, community, nonprofit, faith-based, corporate, and government organizations and agencies hold more than 350 events throughout the United States.LCW events are inclusive of all communities, but in particular are events that break down barriers our community faces when it comes to outdoor recreation and/or conservation efforts. For this reason, we encourage our partners to host events that are free or low-cost to the public, have appropriate transportation considerations, are bilingual, and offer resources for communities to engage in opportunities outside of LCW. As to what the event looks like, LCW events are beautiful in that they don’t fit inside of a box. Past events have included ocean clean-ups, guided hikes, community roundtable discussions, camping trips, stargazing, outdoor salsa lessons, film screenings, and more.
Hispanic Access is here to support your by offering planning guidance, helping you build community connections, and amplifying your event to our partners, networks, and the media.
Reach out to our team for more information, or submit your event here: https://latinoconservationweek.com/events/submit-your-2025-event

Our fair has been running in Caledon Village since 1860 during the reign of Queen Victoria.
Fairs were started across the country when it was beginning to be settled by pioneers, as a way to encourage improvements, education and productivity of all aspects of agriculture.
For example a prize winning animal at the local fair could command a higher service fee, and be more sought after for service. This helped to improve bloodlines, and productivity.
This had the same effect for other livestock, crops, equipment, new ideas and even canning and preserving as well as other lifestyle enhancing activities, right on down to square dancing! Fairs were a BIG DEAL for many towns and villages throughout Canada for many years.
