Each spring and summer, our community is invited to volunteer in our half-acre Growing Minds Garden and working farm. Volunteer shifts are typically two hours on Wednesday afternoons. We have hosted anywhere from 1-30 volunteers doing a variety of tasks from planting, to weeding and invasive plant removal, to harvesting and packaging. We feature
activities for every mobility level, and all are invited.

Serendipity’s Wellness program, including the Growing Minds Garden, helps our students to develop lifelong health habits, which are critical to students impacted by trauma.

The MATE ROV Competition is an underwater robotics competition that challenges student teams from all over the world to design and build an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and compete in a series of tasks testing their skills. Past challenges have included using the ROV to document environmental changes, install offshore wind farms, maintain platforms, pipelines, and cables, search for shipwrecks, farm seagrass, or inspect aquaculture pens and shellfish beds.

This competition challenges students to develop business acumen and inspires them to embrace the United National sustainability goals, understand environmental issues, and apply their STEM and employability workplace skills to innovate and create technology solutions to address problems that impact us all. In addition to the ROV, teams also prepare technical reports, engineering presentations, and marketing displays, which are delivered to volunteers from a variety of technical disciplines.

Judges and volunteers are needed to help support regional competitions across the U.S.!
