The Colorado River Alliance is hosting our 3rd Annual Lake Austin Cleanup. This year the Alliance’s young professionals’ group, the River Society, is partnering with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation’s Stewards of the Wild to participate in a new Texas-wide cleanup initiative, Trash Free Gulf. Trash Free Gulf is led by the Gulf of Mexico Trust with the goal to remove thousands of pounds of trash across the State of Texas in the month of May before litter and debris can float downstream to the Gulf. Colorado River Alliance is seeking one hundred paddleboard and land volunteers to help cleanup Lake Austin on May 17th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to contribute to the state-wide initiative. Volunteers will work safely to remove trash from the water and shoreline that feed into the Texas Colorado River and downstream towards Matagorda Bay.

The 3rd Annual Lake Austin Cleanup will take place at Mozart’s Coffee Roasters where Mozart’s will provide volunteers with access to paddleboards for the duration of the cleanup through their paddleboard rental company, Lake Austin Calm. Attendee’s may continue to celebrate the Texas Colorado River by purchasing special edition branded Keep Lake Austin Beautiful, 125 Year Commemorative merchandise, cookies, coffee blend, and specialty drinks.

Registration is open! The Texas Colorado River supplies drinking water for 1.5 million people in Central Texas as well as providing us with opportunities to boat, fish, SUP, kayak, and enjoy water safely. Reserve your spot as a land or paddleboard volunteer to help keep our vital drinking water source clean and flowing for generations to come! All volunteers are encouraged to enter a photo contest and win prizes.

We’re looking for volunteers to help as stewards for the BCO Music Trail at Ruskin Park on Sunday 25 May - 3.00 pm - 6.00 pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to support free live music in the community while enjoying a day outdoors in a beautiful local park.

Each steward will be assigned to a different location along the trail, ensuring everything runs smoothly at that location and the point of contact for the musician at that hidden spot. Not difficult but necessary!

What is required?

1. Get a briefing on Health and Safety and what to do at the Welcome desk in the Park at the Herne Hill entrance before the event starts - 3.00 pm

2. Take one or two folding chairs to the location you are assigned on the trail 3.30 pm and bring it back to the assigned storage location once finished - 5.30 pm

3. Stay close to the musician on the assigned location while they are performing to ensure a bit of safety for them (and company)

4. Report any challenges or health and safety issues while at the location to Project Manager. (Through Whats App group - you will be added when we start and deleted after event)

The musicians will play music as part of a seek and find game, as participants in the park will have a map, working out where the final performance in the park will take place by finding the 12 locations.

If you can join us—and perhaps bring along a friend or sibling —it would be hugely appreciated!

We are looking for a creative, fun and energetic individual who can take on the role of planning and running a series of online events connecting our global community.

# **What will you be doing?**

We would love someone to take over our events. At the moment we run two online events for each campaign, one in April (the Green Match Fund) and a Christmas campaign.

Our events are always a hit with supporters and new audiences alike. We’re always amazed at the donation we get without even asking, which got us thinking, why not do MORE events and explore the possibility of actively fundraising.

You’ll work with the Fundraising and Communications Manager to design and implement a series of events throughout the year.

**Responsibilities:**

- Create a program of events. Minimum two events per fundraising campaign, ideally a program throughout the year.
- Research, identify and secure speakers.
- Manage tickets via Eventbrite.
- Provide input for content creation and copy to promote the events.
- Host the events online.

# **What are we looking for?**

We need someone experienced, with a creative approach to online events and great organisational skills. We are a very small team and autonomy, collaboration and a proactive attitude is a must.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable using the MS Suite, Some of the tools we use specifically for online events include:

- Video conferencing: ZOOM, Teams, GoogleMeet
- Design: Canva
- Ticketing: Eventbrite
- Comms: Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn

# **What difference will you make?**

Your expertise will support our continued growth. By taking Bees Abroad online events to the next level, you'll help us build relationships with existing supporters, reach new audiences and work towards events as a key fundraising tool.

# How to apply

Please email Christine at [christine_ratcliffe@beesabroad.org.uk](mailto:christine_ratcliffe@beesabroad.org.uk) with the subject line ‘Application for Online Community Event Manager’

Please tell us why you’d like to volunteer in this role in your preferred format (cover letter, video, bullet points, other - be creative!)
