Now more than ever, connecting with the outdoors and each other is so important and our corporate volunteer days offer fantastic team building and staff development opportunities. These days give your staff the chance to take part in important conservation work on our beautiful nature reserves.

Whether it is an informal team-building day, or simply the chance for your staff to get together and put something back into the community, we always welcome extra pairs of hands.
At our Umbra Nature Reserve we could particularly use help with managing the control of the invasive plant ragwort during the latter summer months.

We provide the tools, training and health and safety expertise, so all you have to do is turn up and enjoy the day.

Opportunity Details

We've teamed up again with NUI Galway for the Irish Hedgehog Survey and need your help to find out how hedgehogs are faring, here in Northern Ireland.

Volunteers are invited to conduct a survey in their garden or local area between May and September. The methodology follows that developed by the Mammal Society of the UK which uses footprint tunnels to determine if hedgehogs are present in various habitats, in both urban and rural areas.

Even if you did a survey last year, we would love it if you could do one again!

Meet great people and give back to your community. Each month we rely on the generous support of over 80 volunteers to help us sort rescued food, pack the food into our weekly delivered food boxes for 120+ food insecure households, and run our weekly Rescued Food Market which serves 160+ households.

Milwaukee's annual July 3 Fireworks tradition is returning to Milwaukee. We are seeking volunteers to help the Milwaukee County Parks team clean up the lakefront before and after the July 3rd Fireworks Celebration.

Clean up includes: trash and debris removal, supplies provided.

Schulz Aquatic Park at Lincoln Park will be open for summer! In order to open the Schulz Aquatic Park for family fun this summer, Milwaukee Parks Foundation is seeking volunteers for a park clean-up.

Schulz Aquatic Park is home to a water tube, body water slides, lazy river, leisure pool and more! In order to provide a safe space for families to cool off this summer, connect with us to provide a helping hand!

historic buildings. Event rentals, educational programs, special events, and historic preservation are the signature opportunities at Trimborn Farm. Be Outdoors Arizona has 180 nonprofit partners who share their events on our calendar, creating a centralized place for all information needed to explore the great outdoors. Along with events we provide maps, a community of support and education. We provide the what, where, how, who,why and when for families in Arizona.

My goal is to create a model here in Arizona that can be built in every state in the county.

This is a unique chance to be a part of our Waimea Valley Volunteers Team and help to care for our sacred valley. An RSVP is required.


Work goes from 9am to 3pm and can include: Native Planting as well as Invasive species control.

*** Please realize that when you sign up, you are committing to the entire time specified above. We do not have staff to hike down early with volunteers and you cannot hike down by yourself***

Meet at Waimea Valley Botanical Office and be ready to leave for the hike at 9am

Location Details:

When you arrive at the Valley entrance road, go mauka (towards the mountains) and park in any of the regular parking lots. Then continue walking mauka from there to the Botanical office. It will be up the road to the left of the Visitor center. If you see a sign that says endangered species 'alae ula crossing keep going up that way. If you are having trouble finding your way, go to the front desk in the visitor center, let them know you are here to volunteer and ask to be directed towards the botanical offices, they can help you.



What:

This is a conservation work day, aimed at restoring and protecting the native forest habitat. We will be hiking up onto Kalāhe`e Ridge, to plant native Hawaiian plants, remove invasive species and participate in other conservation projects. It is a moderate hike up to the site (takes about 45 minutes).

** We will provide all tools, but you are welcome to bring personal gloves**



How Many:

We are looking for a maximum of 15 people for any given date.

RSVP in advance to reserve your spot.



What Age:

Ages 12 and up are invited to attend, but any volunteers under 18 will need to have a parent or guardian go with them to volunteer.


Terrain:

The terrain is moderate for Kalahe`e Ridge.

** There is very little shade on the ridge and it can get quite hot!! Be prepared!**

To reduce the risk of Covid, we recommend that everyone who visits here wears a mask in high traffic areas, when you are indoors and if you are not vaccinated, but as we are following state guidelines we do not require masks to be worn. We truly appreciate you being part of the effort to reduce the risks faced by our staff, visitors, volunteers and local community. As long as the Covid situation remains steady, we can continue with this current system, but some flexibility might be needed. I appreciate your willingness to work with the uncertain nature of planning because we truly need the volunteers help here. We thrive with all of your help and aloha.
