Areas of focus for Main Street Programs
The Organization Committee through hard work has built a large number of memberships and continues to build our memberships along with recruiting new volunteers. This committee is responsible for organizing member events such as our annual membership meeting, member recruiting meetings and outreach. It is also responsible for soliciting sponsorships and building capacity relationships with government and business partners.

The Promotions Committee focuses on public events such as, Tour of Homes, Dish n Fish, Music Fests, Sunset Celebration, Dressing of the Palms, Maritime Festivals, Blessing of the Boards and other events that bring traffic to the Town Center. Every first Friday of the each month, VBMS hosts the Art Walk Off the Beaten Path free of charge to the public to promote the growing artist community of Vilano. Promotion’s is also responsible for our monthly newsletter and other Town Center promotional activities. Each of these projects is a great way to bring our community together and they offer us fundraising opportunities. VISIT FLORIDA marketing and educational grants will create specialized promotional advertising for the area.

The Design Review Committee focuses on the aesthetics of the Town Center and ensures new development and existing businesses comply with standards to retain the character of the Town Center. We recently installed new nature mosaic signs on the Vilano Nature Boardwalk to complement the infrastructure designs with public art throughout the area as well as new heritage interpretive mosaics on the Poplar Avenue fountain. Wayfinding signs are standardized and updated annually. A number of Main Street Events hold their own logos consistent with the VBMS branding colors.

The Economic Restructuring Committee through the years has worked our way to being able to offer our program area merchants learning opportunities. Many county grants have allowed us to improve the Town Center infrastructure such as the docks, streetscapes, storm water improvements and underground utilities. We continue to solicit more residential and retail shops for the Town Center and are now supporting the development of two new hotels in the Town Center while trying to preserve the historic character of the community.
