The Eastern Bluebird is one of the most vibrant critters you will meet on a visit to Piscataway Park, but unfortunately they face fierce habitat competition from invasive bird species. The Bluebird Monitor volunteer program monitors a trail of 20 Bluebird Nestboxes to ensure that these native cavity nesters have a safe place to build their nests each year. Volunteers protect the nests from pest and predators, while also collecting important data on egg and hatchling numbers. The season runs from February-August, and monitors are assigned certain weekends each season to perform their duties.

Come by and help reDiscover Center clean up for our summer camp!

reDiscover Center community and friends are volunteering to clean out the Upcycled Materials Warehouse, sort and process materials donations, and refresh reDiscover’s facade and physical plant. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Expect to come across treasures in the warehouse that you just can’t resist taking home for that craft project you’ve been thinking of. Bring a friend! Please RSVP to mail@rediscovercenter.org.

reDiscover Center relies on volunteer efforts to keep our Upcycled Materials Warehouse up and running, processing literally tons of material each year that would otherwise go to the landfill but through our efforts finds new life in art and education.
