NNF currently has two projects in Uganda:
1. The Kibale Fuel Wood Project focuses on the scarcity of wood around Kibale National Park. The project seeks to empower locals to find alternatives for their energy needs through promoting efficient stoves and fast-growing native firewood crops, and has a substantial educational campaign that includes four village science museums, a travelling video show and yearly conservation competitions.
2. The Kibale Eco Char Initiative is working to eliminate the need for wood by creating biomass briquettes made from agricultural waste and recycled products.

As a volunteer you will be participating in all activities of both projects. These activities include manufacturing eco-briquettes, teaching students and staff at the Science Centers, assisting in building fuel efficient stoves, and whatever other current activities are happening in Uganda!

Our equine protection program educates the public about equine protection issues, advocates for public policies to protect animals, partners with corporations and community minded companies on behalf of animal-friendly policies, investigates animal cruelty and provides animal rescue. We work to reduce the suffering of at risk equines and those designated for human consumption through education and awareness about practices that cause enormous suffering. We are seeking volunteers with strong attention to detail to support our work by taking on projects such as social outreach, research, telephone communications, data entry, and general administrative support. Volunteers will work remotely from their home and will be assigned work based on availability, skills and interest.
As a volunteer in this role, you will learn more about equine welfare issues, acquire useful skills, and rest well knowing you're helping us help wild and domestic equines around the country.

Through our London 2012 ‘Transform’ programme, we have empowered and supported London communities to turn 70 derelict, unused and unloved pocket parks and open spaces (like Glenarm Garden in LB Hackney) across the Olympic host boroughs into vibrant green spaces everyone can enjoy.
Through the next phase of this programme 'Transform:Edible East' we hope to continue the brilliant work of Transform and to help local communities to develop under-used sites into well-loved food growing spaces, across East London.
There will be a wealth of different team volunteering opportunities, both to create community groups create their new food growing spaces, and to support and maintain already established sites.
