Help us recreate the heyday of the 1930's at the historic Hellman-Ehrman Estate at Sugar Pine Point State Park. Bring your family and friends out to Commodore Park this summer to restore this ship canal shoreline park with Friends of the Cedar River Watershed through the Green Seattle Partnership! Commodore Park is situated in the Magnolia neighborhood, just south of the Hiram M. Chittenden (Ballard) Locks, with a great view of the Locks and ship canal leading into Puget Sound. Volunteers will weed invasive plants from the park in preparation for the planting of a diversity of native plants in the fall. During and after the event, volunteers will have the opportunity to visit the Locks to see salmon passing through the fish ladder on their way from the ocean to Lake Washington! Salmon Journey naturalist will be onsite at the Locks and fish ladder to talk to volunteers about the fish passing through the ladder and about the amazing journey of salmon. Come to to improve habitat and see salmon!

Grab your friends and family and come out for the 5th Annual Cast & Dig with Friends of the Cedar River Watershed and King County Parks at Cavanaugh Pond Natural Area! We will spend the morning restoring riparian habitat, followed by FREE fly fishing workshops for all skill levels, guest speakers, a raffle, and delicious lunch in the afternoon! Volunteers will improve habitat by removing invasive plants and maintaining weed suppression fabric. Enjoy BBQ fare (vegetarian options available) and learn from local specialists who will be providing casting and tying demonstrations, one-on-one lessons for all skills, and an aquatic Insect Identification lab. We'll also have casting games and raffle prizes! The art and sport of fly fishing requires passion and knowledge of river ecology as well as proactive conservation. This is an event not to miss!

Sammamish Landing is an 8.23 acre site located along the eastern shore of Lake Sammamish and is the only stretch of shoreline property along Lake Sammamish that is in public ownership within City limits. The southern section of Sammamish Landing contains invasive plants that threaten to spread and degrade habitat. Volunteers will work to restore this important shoreline to a more natural and sustainable state by removing invasive plants this spring and summer and replanting with native trees and shrubs in the fall. Come out to improve habitat by weeding invasive plants and creating compost platforms! This project offers a great opportunity to learn about the local environment, meet the community, and get involved for a good cause!

Join Friends of the Cedar River Watershed and King County Parks for a day of habitat restoration along the Cedar River at Belmondo Reach Natural Area! Belmondo Reach Natural Area is known as a high priority on the Cedar River for habitat conservation and restoration projects. This natural area contains a meandering bend of the river, great aquatic habitat for salmon and other fish. The Cedar River is a valuable resource for our community; its headwaters are in an ecological forest preserve that provides clean drinking water for over one million residents, it supports numerous recreational activities year-round, as well as federally-listed threatened salmon populations. Volunteers will help to maintain restoration progress by weeding a planting site!

The forest features wetlands, streams, and wildlife such as bear, elk, cougars, cutthroat trout, and western toads. The mountain has miles of trails that can be utilized by hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. Volunteers will be helping to improve trail networks on the mountain. Join us for a day on the mountain! Ages 12 and up recommended.
