Your help is needed to assemble survival kits for participants completing our smoking cessation programs.

Office environment is casual - snacks will be provided. There is no easier way to gain volunteer experience while supporting our mission to save lives! Multiple shifts of 3-4 hours are available.

More than 32 million Americans live with chronic lung disease, over 166 million Americans live in areas with unhealthy air and lung cancer is the leading cancer killer of both men and women. Through the work of our programs, we aim to defeat lung cancer, improve the air we breathe and to eliminate tobacco use and tobacco-related diseases.

Seed2Seed and Living Hope Church are partnering together to host Kernersville Earth Day 2018. We value this community event and are excited about new opportunities for education that we are bringing to the event this year.
Kernersville Earth Day will be hosted on the 7-acre property of Living Hope Church. The property boasts a large field for vendors, parking, and Seed2Seed’s Sustainable Education Farm. Inside the building there is a craft room, large conference room for speakers, and bathroom facilities.
Our event will be different than previous years in that education will the main theme. The event will be free and open to the public on April 20th from 9am to 4 pm. We have speakers with presentations, workshops, and demos (indoors and outside) scheduled throughout the day. An art contest is being held for local Kernersville k-12 students with prizes for winners. All vendors are required to have an educational component to their booths. Food trucks will be onsite as well as a local juice shop. Interactive garden tasting tours will be given from Seed2Seed. The city of Kernersville will have an interactive river simulation truck on site. In addition, Kernersville Earth Day will be a ZERO WASTE EVENT!
What we aim to accomplish is to bring the Kernersville community together through education, service, and partnership. Sustainable practices that close holes and gaps in areas like waste, education, and specific community needs are of high priority to us. Community building allows us to broaden our reach and resources so that more needs get met in the end for all. Ultimately, we seek to collaborate with people and organizations in our community to serve and connect Kernersville around Sustainability and Earth Day is a great opportunity to do that.
We are asking that Kernersville businesses would support local sustainability through Kernersville Earth Day 2018. Areas of opportunity for partnership are supplying volunteers for the event, offering a workshop/demo/ or Earth Day related presentation the day of the event, in kind donations, and monetary sponsorship of the event. The total cost of the event is $6000 and any amount towards that would be greatly appreciated. This is a small amount for an event this size and the hosts of this event take no profit from that amount. Your donation would be a tremendous help towards our goals!

Canal Pride Days are the C&O Canal National Historical Park’s largest volunteer stewardship events of the year, engaging volunteers from across the state in stewardship projects to restore and revitalize the Park’s natural, cultural, and recreational community resources.

Join us Saturday, April 7th from 8 AM to Noon for a Desert Cleanup between Superior and Picketpost Mountain on the Tonto National Forest - Globe Ranger District.

PLEASE NOTE: due to road conditions and the distance between sites, we recommend volunteers only come in high clearance vehicles. We are going to move from site to site as a big group to ensure we get all of the trash sites so you will need a high clearance vehicle that can get you from site to site.

This is the perfect opportunity for OHV and 4X4 Clubs to come out and join us for the morning!

Sign-in is from 7:30 AM to 8 AM. Safety briefing at 8 AM sharp. We will leave the meet-up site as a group immediately following the safety briefing. If you arrive late, you will not be able to participate.

We will also have a front-end loader to assist us.

Join us for our first weekday cleanup on Monday, April 2nd, 2018 at Phon D Sutton Recreation Area. This area typically sees a lot of use over the Easter holiday weekend and sadly, a lot of trash is left behind. The cleanup is from 8 AM to Noon.

We are looking for volunteers on foot to hike along the riverbanks exploring the area and picking up scattered trash when you see it. Bring gloves, wear long pants, long sleeve shirt, and closed-toe shoes or boots that can get dirty.

Every Pennsylvanian has a stake in clean water and we are stepping up to the challenge of reducing water pollution by planting trees. Who We Are: Coulee Partners for Sustainability (CPS) was a non-profit organization that
formed in 2007 with the purpose to create an environmental awareness in the Coulee
Region through a variety of educational events. CPS’s main goals included educating
people of all ages about personal responsibility and sustainability, inspiring people to take
an active role in environmental issues and uniting the community by organizing
educational events in La Crosse. CPS’s aim was to involve people of all ages to share and
spread the knowledge of environmental issues and discuss the possible ways in which we
can better our society and make our community more sustainable. In January of this year,
CPS was merged with the Sustainability Institute at Western Technical College, and their
mission and goals parallel that of CPS. The Sustainability Institute is housed at Western
Technical College but serves the 7 Rivers Region. They provide a forum to raise all efforts
by aligning with local partnerships and resources to enhance offerings. Their hopes are to
grow and cultivate sustainability in our region by hosting conversations and conferences to
move sustainability forward in our region.
Earth Fair : For the past nine years, CPS has put on an annual Earth Fair. Past attendance
has been between 1,000 and 2,500-- primarily families with young to adolescent children –
this is an indication of the popularity of the Earth Fair in which there are many activities
and demonstrations held for young and old alike. (Please see www.earthfairlacrosse.com
for last year’s handout).
Recycling Fair & Spring Cleaning : Also during the Earth Fair a “Recycling Fair” will be
held at Emerson Elementary school with electronic waste, used car seats, scrap metal, CFL
bulbs, American flags, and confidential documents being collected. Spring Cleaning is a
volunteer clean-up effort held the Saturday before the Earth Fair in and around the La
Crosse River Marsh.
The Earth Fair is free and open to the public. The event is 100% supported by the
generous contributions from area businesses and organizations through grants,
sponsorships, and nominal fees from event (non-sponsor) vendors.
