At JHCL, there is always opportunity for groups or individuals to volunteer their time at the site. The weather, season of the year and indeed your own skill sets play a part in what there is on offer to do.Tasks can vary from planting, weeding, basic landscaping, DIY maintenance, painting, and more. We look to find the right task, depending on any physical abilities and what volunteers feel confident spending their time on.
The site hosts community growing areas, an Orchard with 350+ trees, vineyard, half acre sensory garden, wildlife pond, seating areas, polytunnel and more.
Volunteering is free, however if a group or company would like to focus on a team project, some ideas may involve small costs to achieve.
Volunteers can gain a sense of satisfaction 'giving back to the community', alongside well being benefits of working outdoors, being active, meeting new people and learning and sharing skills.
Anyone interested in finding out more is welcome to arrange a visit to tour the site, and discuss what you are looking to gain from volunteering. Once registered, volunteering is non-committal and flexible for how often and how much time you can give.
