The majority of our volunteers assist with the care of our patients! This involves feeding, cleaning up after, and keeping records of the animals that are currently in our care. Without our animal care volunteers, our program would not be able to operate at the level that we do today.

We run careers enrichment activities for children in schools to teach them about careers in the built environment sector. As part of this, we invite volunteer professionals to speak to children about their job, how they got into their role and any advice they would have for young people looking to pursue a similar career. Talks are typically 10 minutes long, followed by a Q&A session.

We gift books to children who have too few, knowing that a higher number of books in a household can help increase children's language development and develop literacy skills to succeed at home. Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child's future success (*Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) 2022)

We're a national charity & believe in the empowering impact of book ownership. We want every child to experience the emotional pleasure and escapism of a book that they have chosen themselves.

Our team days run from 10am - 3pm at 9 Golborne Road in North Kensington. The nearest tube is Westbourne Park or there are 10 hour parking bays on Elkstone Road around the corner.

We start at 10am prompt with an introduction to the charity. Our day is fun and busy and full of books - including a variety of tasks from sorting books, organising them into categories, and boxing them up for schools.

There is a Sicilian cafe 2 doors down called Panella which has superb lunches and coffees. We ask for a donation of £35 per person.

Please drop me a line if you would like further details clare@childrensbookproject.co.uk

We also run volunteering days in Leeds and Birmingham.
