You see them every time you open up a soft drink or soup, sometimes even when you feed your pet. Those tiny little tabs are easy to overlook, but they can make a BIG impact on the families of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte!

Though small, tabs are clean and easy to collect – and they add up fast. RMHC of GC takes tabs to our recycling partner, United Scrap Metal, and exchange the tabs for money for our guest family fund! Although it costs RMHC of GC approximately $130 a night to shelter a family in medical crisis, families are invited to make only a small financial donation, but many cannot afford to contribute anything at all. The money from pop tabs helps to ensure that we are able to accommodate every guest, regardless of their ability to pay.

Please contact Kayla Roberts with any questions regarding this opportunity at kayla@rmhclt.org or (704) 288-3520. Visit our website for more information: https://rmhclt.org/pop-tab-collections-ronald-mcdonald-house-charities-of-greater-charlotte/.

Help researchers unlock data through Zooniverse.org, the world’s largest platform for people-powered research, with over 2.7 million people of all ages worldwide participating in over 80 active projects, from classifying galaxies, marking cells for cancer research, transcribing historic handwritten documents, and more.

To date, thousands of Microsoft employees have contributed over half a million classifications to Zooniverse projects!

During this session you will participate in PenguinWatch.org, a quick-to-learn site through which you can help researchers by tagging penguins in drone images. The data helps us understand the impact of climate change on this charismatic species and the health of our oceans.

You’ll hear directly from a Zooniverse team member about the impact of Penguin Watch, learn how to tag penguins, chicks and eggs in digital images, and spend most of the experience tagging penguins in the research project.

There is no preparation required. You will be guided through how to register for an account and how to tag penguins in the images. If you want to register for a Zooniverse account in advance, go to Zooniverse.org and select ‘register’ in the right corner. Please use your Microsoft email address so that your stats can be included in Microsoft’s overall stats on Zooniverse.

This opportunity is part of #Give2024 and beyond.
