We're designing a GIS data structure that our subsistence farmers can easily use to document land-use, and biodiversity sightings so their credits are more transparent. This will be used to correlate with satellite imaging and use Google App Engine. WaterStrong Eco-Swim clinics are designed to destroy barriers to swimming and clean water and to make water magical with its specialized curriculum in swimming, water safety and environmental education. Clinics take place where families recreate: public lakes, rivers, and swimming pools in the Portland, Oregon metro area. Volunteers join the clinic as swim instructors, water watchers, environmental educators and greeters. Because WaterStrong programs are delivered in communities where language, economic, and access barriers exist, Spanish-speaking and bilingual/bi-cultural volunteers are encouraged to join. Eco-Swim clinics vary in length from 1 hour to 1 day (maybe a week-long day camp sometime in the future). Every participant receives a free life jacket. Every volunteer receives a WaterStrong t-shirt, swim cap, sticker, and light meal.
