Our combined volunteer efforts around the country will make an impact!
Host seminars educating on topics ranging from food systems, agriculture, and nutrition
Grains of Hope has prepared a curriculum ready for local teachers like you to present! We'll support you with resources, and feel free to customize them to suit your teaching style.
If there's a particular topic you're interested in, you can also help write educational materials for our club
Help us organize community campaigns to advocate for change in food policy.
Grains of Hope will provide community service hours that counts for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for all of your efforts.
You may also want to initiate your own activities in your local area. Grains of Hope will support local teams who lead their own branch by gathering together resources and experience to help get you started.
Find new ways to reduce food waste in your school cafeteria, farmers markets, or restaurants and redistribute to local homeless shelters and hunger nonprofits
Host your own series of food sustainability educational workshops at your school or local community
Start a community garden in your school or neighborhood, experiment with new sustainable farming approaches
Start any initiative of interest relating to our food systems theme

Mission Statement
The modern field of food systems and agriculture is being revolutionized by new technological advances. However, our current food systems are inadequate to feed and nourish the ever-increasing population and do not provide healthy, affordable food for all. We would like to explore the food that we consume, such as where the food comes from and the challenges throughout the supply chain from farm to table. We aim to tackle problems with the current food systems, which includes food insecurity, food waste, malnutrition, unhealthy diets, food safety, efficiency of distribution channels, and long-term sustainability of food systems. Our mission is to raise awareness in our school and local communities about food related challenges, to promote food waste reduction, alleviate hunger, promote healthy diets, well-balanced nutrition, and food safety, and explore techniques to improve food system efficiency and sustainability.
Description
Founded by high school students from various states across the US, we are a vibrant and welcoming community that campaigns to solve food systems related challenges. As a diverse group with members coming from many backgrounds, we welcome members with varying interests to contribute to this cause, as we take both humanities and STEM approaches to further our mission.
We have expanded our organization branches to 5 states in the US, with each branch led by a local team carrying out a unique approach that best addresses food system challenges in its local community.

During summer programming our Clubs plan field trips to give kiddos an opportunity to get out and do fun things in the community while learning new things. Our chaperones are vital to our trips because they are not only a safe and responsible adult to help supervise the trip, but they get to be role models and teach the kids something new along the way.We are heading to Heckrodt Nature Center from our Menasha Club by bus to explore the various different natural habitats and the animals that might live in them!

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association promotes renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable living through education and demonstration.Join us for a fun day of Fall cleanup at MREA’s headquarters in Custer, WI.
We’ll prepare our site for the colder months, and we would love your help. Please dress for the weather, and warm up with our wood-burning masonry heater. Hot beverages and energizing snacks will be available as well as lunch for all participants.

INCO Australia’s online Green Digital Skills Certification course aims to equip people with knowledge and skills to build sustainable digital solutions. The course is part of INCO Academy, a global training program for underrepresented people who are seeking to be included in society and find meaningful work.Free and 100% online, over 4 weeks and 4 modules, learners will complete the course while being engaged by local teams on Slack and weekly Drop-In Sessions.
The volunteer Coach will complement other engagement efforts of the course by providing additional support to people who we believe may need it, so they achieve course competition, and have their skills and confidence lifted.
The Coach will guide the learner through the course by:
- Offering tips on how to stay motivated and energised through the online course
- Talking through how to solve a challenging situation, such as not completing a quiz or not understanding a concept
- Being a sounding board for any obstacles that are preventing course completion and think through how to overcome those challenges
- Undertake some online mock interviews or review resume and cover letter, for those seeking employment.
If the Coach has digital and sustainability skills, they can provide additional guidance, such as:
- Sharing knowledge on a course topic to provide the learner with additional information
- Sharing details on the tech industry and why this course is valuable for future success
The expectations of the Coach are to:
- The Coach and Learner will meet weekly for a maximum of 4 weeks. The amount of weeks spent Coaching will depend on how long it takes the Learner to complete the course. Once the learner has completed the course, you can conclude the Coaching.
- Participate in a weekly session that will go for 30 - 45 minutes and be online via Google Meet.
An Information Session and Coach Pack will be provided by INCO Academy. The Coach will form part of our pool of Coaches and be matched with a Learner by INCO Academy.

Opportunity Details
One of Sabin’s goals is to integrate affordable housing within our community, and one of the ways we can do this is by helping our residents with yard upkeep and maintenance. As a volunteer, you would be helping residents by weeding, mowing, planting gardens, building garden beds, and general maintenance. If you are an ongoing volunteer, you may be asked to “adopt” a property to focus your efforts on and allow for consistency with your work and for the residents.
