At the event, volunteers comb the beaches to find, remove and record marine debris. By removing the debris, volunteers are making the beaches and waterways safer and more enjoyable for marine life and beach goers alike. By recording the data, volunteers contribute to a legacy of information on marine debris that has been growing for 34 years! This information is utilized by COA to drive legislation that will stop marine debris at the source, saving our precious beaches and marine life.

This event also provides a powerful take-home lesson for volunteers who might be unfamiliar with the severity of our world's marine debris problem.
