Each year, San Diego River Park Foundation volunteers remove more than 200,000 pounds of trash from our River. Without our amazing volunteers, this trash would be left to pollute native animal habitats, create unsightly piles in our parks and public spaces, leach contaminants into the water, and could be washed out in to our ocean and beaches!YOU can help with this critical work! The Clean & Green Team is a group of enthusiastic volunteers that focus on cleaning up storm water debris and litter. Volunteers use pickers and gloves to pack this trash into garbage bags, then haul it to a dumpster.
This event is open to volunteers of all ages, but volunteers under the age of 16 must come with an adult. Closed-toed shoes are required. Sun protection, water and a snack are highly recommended. Community service hours can be verified. Groups of up to 30 people are welcome if space allows.
Location: SDCCU (Qualcomm) Stadium, 9449 Friars Rd, San Diego, CA 92108. Event will be staged in south east corner of the lot.
RSVP REQUIRED. To RSVP, please register on our website here: https://sdriverdays.org/activity/clean-green-river-clean-up/
This event is part of San Diego River Days!

Do you like to lead hikes, help set up, help people register, help serve food, or play games with kids in a park? Then volunteer for -- or be a paid participant in -- Kidsave's Hike with a Heart on Sunday, May 5th in Rock Creek Park, Area 24, Washington, D.C. The goal is to raise $20,000 to support Kidsave's Summer Miracles program that brings 12-15 older Colombian orphans to the US to stay with host families for 5 weeks in the hope and with the goal of meeting an adoptive, forever family. 80% of the kids do meet and get to know a family that adopts them, and that they want to be adopted by! These are kids who have almost no hope of having a family except through this program. Kidsave has found permanent, loving, stable families for nearly 13000 orphans and foster youth in its 20 years of existence. Once kids have a family, they are far less likely to be homeless, uneducated, trafficked, incarcerated, pregnant, hopeless or suicidal. Giving a kid a family that loves, guides and protects them is the best thing anyone can do for these kids!Available Shifts
