Providing bank stability, shade and habitat, willows (scientific name: Salix) are among the most important plants along the river. Help plant willows along the San Lorenzo River for a stronger, healthier river ecosystem. As a volunteer, you will learn about willows and then gather and install willow cuttings.

During this event we will provide tools and refreshments for participants. We recommend that all volunteers dress in comfortable gardening clothes, include long pants, socks and sturdy shoes. Bring sun protection or rain layer depending on the weather and be sure to bring a reusable water bottle. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Join the Coastal Watershed Council in making a difference in the lower San Lorenzo River. As a River Health Day volunteer, you will help with planting and caring for native plants as they grow and create habitat along the river and learn about this unique river ecosystem.

It's St. Patrick's Day and it's no coincidence that things are looking a little greener at Elk Run Farm! New sprouts will surely be peeking out of the ground to greet the warmer weather and change in season.

Elk Run Farm grows fruits and vegetables for the twelve food banks of the South King County Food Coalition. This will be our last winter volunteering hours and the last chance to get the farm ready before the growing season fully kicks off.

Come celebrate this spring holiday by working on your green thumb and help Elk Run Farm welcome in all the luck St. Patrick's Day has to offer. The main task for the day is to plant peas so that they will be ready for the spring harvest. We will be prepping beds for the peas, building trellises so the peas will have proper support, and of course, planting the peas! These peas will be harvested multiple times throughout the growing season and en route to the food banks by June. Help us feed families in South King County!

Environment Erie is a local non-profit 501c 3 organization that offers support to the community through various programs. Programs include, youth education in our schools, public education through workshops, revitalization programs with businesses and neighborhoods, as well as restoration projects on our streams.

We will be taking all of our camping equipment needed for summer trip, organizing it into backpack groups, and then stuffing it into gear bags that will be shipped across the country so our students can use the camping equipment during their summer trips.

By volunteering for this event, you'll be supporting the 170 Houston high school students and the 55 adult mentors that will participate in our 2-week wilderness immersion trip to nationally recognized locations (Yosemite NP, Glacier, NP, Donner Pass, and the Apostle Islands).
During the 2-week trip, our students will build on the leadership and critical life skills that were a focus during the school-year programming.

Come help cleanup the beach in Surf City, California! The Beach Cleanup runs from: 8am-12noon. Free parking on the numbered streets (inland to PCH) or metered parking is available on PCH, near 9th St. You will be just walking distance to Main St. and the HB Pier. What to bring?: Work gloves, Reusable Bags or Buckets, Water and Sunblock. D2O can provide bags/gloves if needed (limited supplies).
