Countless children use these trails as they learn about nature and conservation at the Claremont Field Centre education facility. Volunteers will learn about the site, help maintain trails and enjoy a campfire at the end of the volunteer session.

Green Calgary Volunteer Orientation - Tuesday March 21st, 2017

If you are interested in volunteering with an environmental charity, or have signed up as a volunteer with Green Calgary in the last little while, we'd love to meet you. Every month we host 1 night/month where we get our new volunteers together and give an orientation about who Green Calgary is, what we do and the volunteer opportunities we have available. Feel free to bring a friend or family member, ages 14-18 also welcome. Refreshments are provided. This orientation is scheduled for Tuesday March 21st @ 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Opportunity Details

Join the Green Kirkland Partnership to help with the restoration of Juanita Bay Park. Volunteers will spend the morning participating in a mix of restoration activities which may include removing non-native invasive plants like ivy and Himalayan blackberry, spreading mulch over cleared areas, and planting native trees, shrubs and ground covers. No experience is necessary and we encourage volunteers of all ages to join us! This event is led by a volunteer Green Kirkland Steward.

Where to meet: The volunteer event will start inside the park. From the main parking lot, walk into the park past the kiosk and the restrooms. When you reach the main lower pathway go left and then turn right towards the boardwalk. You will see the event leads near the picnic table.

What to Bring: Please dress for the weather (layers are encouraged and rain gear is a must most times of year), wear close-toed shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Bring a filled water bottle and snacks to munch on. Tools and training will be provided.

Parking is available in the parking lot.

Youth Volunteering Volunteers age 14-17 attending the event without a parent or guardian must bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian to the event with them. Download the Green Kirkland Youth Volunteer Waiver. Volunteer under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Opportunity Details

Come volunteer at our annual Sheep to Shawl event at our farm. We host a variety of stations, as well as demonstrations of shearing sheep. This event has each step of turning hand spun wool into sustainable textiles and toys. No experience is needed to volunteer. There will be vendors, food, and live music, and is very family friendly.

Opportunity Details

Join Farms to Grow, Inc on 2nd Saturdays, 8:30 am - 2:00 pm assisting with our CSA program. Pre-registered subscribers will pick-up their CSA bags of healthy produce grown by underserved farmers at our Oakland distribution hub.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with assembling the CSA bags, attendants, graphic artist, social media influencers, drivers to deliver contactless produce to subscribers at drop off locations and folks to assist with the backend database.

I would love for you to be a part of the growing CSA Team.

We enforce safe distance, wearing mask, gloves and aprons while handling the produce. Subscribers are informed to wear a mask when picking up their CSA bag of produce.
