We are looking for help on our development and fundraising team. This team creates a development and fundraising annual calendar. There are several options for involvement. Ongoing monthly participant in planning meetings. One-time plan and organize fundraising event or administratively with some donor management database development. Thank you for considering! About a third of our annual budget is reliant on individual donors and corporate sponsors. Donor development is critical to our survival and we are a young organization.

Opportunity Details

Our LawnBuster program convert residential lawn into drought-tolerant landscapes that save, approximately, 31 gallons per square foot. Projects also provide much needed diversity in our urban ecosystem through the installation of native trees and shrubs.

LawnBuster projects take two days to complete and adult volunteers are encouraged to attend. The LawnBust team will provide all necessary tools and equipment and outline each step of the LawnBust as they go.

Bring water (re-usable containers encouraged), snacks, sun protection and clothes you can get dirty! Closed toed shoes are required. To register, please email LBvolunteers@ourcityforest.org.

Our Community Nursery provides native and drought-tolerant trees and shrubs to the local community via direct purchase and sources all community projects managed by Our City Forest - Community Planting, LawnBusters, & Trees for All.

We are open to the public every Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 9am-12pm and welcome volunteers of any age group interested in tree and shrub care, propagation, and customer service. No prior experience is required!

Green Calgary Volunteer Orientation - Tuesday February 21st, 2017

If you are interested in volunteering with an environmental charity, or have signed up as a volunteer with Green Calgary in the last little while, we'd love to meet you. Every month we host 1 night/month where we get our new volunteers together and give an orientation about who Green Calgary is, what we do and the volunteer opportunities we have available. Feel free to bring a friend or family member, ages 14-18 also welcome. Refreshments are provided. This orientation is scheduled for Tuesday February 21st @ 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Opportunity Details

The Plant Exchange (www.theplantexchange.org) encourages reuse, recycling and organic living. This community-wide free event is where gardeners, landscapers, urban farmers, and beginners come to exchange plants, equipment and information about ways to make our urban environment more sustainable, aesthetic, and healthy.

Help us set up the day before our semi-annual Plant Exchange from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Volunteers will help:
set up tables
move plants onto tables
assemble signage
label plant donations
prune plants
install temporary fencing
cone off parking areas and
much more!

The time goes quickly and is a lot of fun. Bring a friend and make new ones! All volunteers are invited to a special volunteer appreciation party one week after the exchange event.

Forget paintballing or going to the pub! Corporate Support Days with RSPCA NSW are an incredible opportunity for staff to bond as a team, spend time with animals and learn more about animal welfare.

Thank you for your enquiry regarding RSPCA NSW Corporate Experience Days!

Our experiences include a tour of our Sydney (Yagoona) facility, lunch, refreshments, a presentation on our work, an enrichment making activity, plus hands on interaction with animals in their kennels, as well as getting your hands dirty with activities the shelter Animal Attendants need assistance with that day! We host corporate experience days in Sydney (Yagoona) twice a week, from 9:00am-3:00pm, for up to 10 people. The price for the day is $2,200 (including GST), which of course includes a portion that will be reinvested into care for the animals.

You can also pack a similar corporate experience day into 3 hours, from 9.00am-12.00pm or 12pm-3pm, for up to 10 people, at $1,200 (including GST).

If a Corporate Experience Day sounds like something that will get your tail wagging, we would love to meet you.

Volunteering with your team from work, an association or soical group is an excellent teambuilding activity and a great way to give back to the community. We can accommodate groups of up to 20 volunteers to help at our Donation Centre, sorting items for our Free Goods Referral Program and for our thrift stores which support WINS and the programs we run for women in need.

Opportunity Details

Join the Green Kirkland Partnership to help with the restoration of Juanita Bay Park every Friday morning in 2017, from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Volunteers will spend the morning doing a mix of restoration activities which may include removing aggressive invasive species like ivy and blackberry, spreading mulch over cleared areas and planting native trees, shrubs and ground covers. No experience is necessary and we encourage volunteers of all ages to join us! This event is led by a volunteer Green Kirkland Steward.

Youth Volunteering Volunteers age 14-17 attending the event without a parent or guardian must bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian to the event with them. Download the Green Kirkland Youth Volunteer Waiver. Volunteer under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
