From May 3–6, 2017, 1,600 students (ages 9-13) will participate in our children's education festival that focuses on energy and the environment.The Kids' World of Energy Festival teaches kids about the science and benefits of renewable energy, conservation, electricity, urban waterways, and stewardship through fun, hands-on activities.
Held at the Evergreen Brick Works, our programming covers a wide range of curriculum-linked subjects – involving sciences, technology and engineering, art, physical education and more.
Dates: May 3 – May 6, 2017
• Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are School Days (school participation only)
• Saturday is open to the public and offers free activities for all ages

Green Calgary Volunteer Orientation - Tuesday March 21st, 2017If you are interested in volunteering with an environmental charity, or have signed up as a volunteer with Green Calgary in the last little while, we'd love to meet you. Every month we host 1 night/month where we get our new volunteers together and give an orientation about who Green Calgary is, what we do and the volunteer opportunities we have available. Join the Green Kirkland Partnership to help with the restoration of Juanita Bay Park. Volunteers will spend the morning participating in a mix of restoration activities which may include removing non-native invasive plants like ivy and Himalayan blackberry, spreading mulch over cleared areas, and planting native trees, shrubs and ground covers. No experience is necessary and we encourage volunteers of all ages to join us! This event is led by a volunteer Green Kirkland Steward.Where to meet: The volunteer event will start inside the park. From the main parking lot, walk into the park past the kiosk and the restrooms. When you reach the main lower pathway go left and then turn right towards the boardwalk. You will see the event leads near the picnic table.
What to Bring: Please dress for the weather (layers are encouraged and rain gear is a must most times of year), wear close-toed shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Bring a filled water bottle and snacks to munch on. Tools and training will be provided.
Parking is available in the parking lot.
Youth Volunteering Volunteers age 14-17 attending the event without a parent or guardian must bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian to the event with them. Download the Green Kirkland Youth Volunteer Waiver. Volunteer under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
