River Bend Nature Center’s Bug Fest is BACK! Come join us for a bug-filled evening Friday, May 12th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm!! You can discover what a 10-inch millipede feels like and look a tarantula right in its eight eyes. Experience the beauty and fascination of bugs and learn about their importance in our daily lives.There will be many activities for all ages, such as OSU’s Insect Adventure where you can see, hold, and touch a multitude of insects, a Bug Hunt Contest, Bug Games, Buggy Crafts, a Bug Costume Contest, plus so much more! Also, enjoy River Bend’s own “Bug Stop” Live Collection and experience “Peyton’s Place” Butterfly Exhibit in the Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory! Admission is $6 per adult, $5 per child, and ages one and under are free. RBNC Members will receive a dollar off per member.

Opportunity Details
Help protect mother turtles and their nests! Watch over a nesting mother turtle while she lays her eggs, then help make sure she gets back to her wetland safely and monitor the nest. Volunteers are provided with free training and then are put on an on-call list to be contacted during nesting season (late-May to late-June) when a turtle is nesting in their area. This is an important way to can help declining turtle populations in Ontario.

Project is an ecological urban agriculture project aimed at improving local agricultural resources, encouraging self-handling and at the same time encouraging collective social action and the creation of social connections.3C Project aims to promote the social inclusion of people in conditions of socio-economic vulnerability.
For people at risk of social exclusion, collaborating with employees of important companies and telling them about their experience in the garden is a source of pride and stimulates the creation of an inclusive environment.
In Italy there are two gardens, one located in Cornaredo and one in Settimo Milanese (Milan province).
Volunteers can support the beneficiaries of the 3C Project for one day, helping them in the following tasks:
3C Project in Settimo Milanese (MI):
• Implementation of a water collection system
• Planting hedges
• Organizing the compost bin
• Creating the common area and building furniture
• Create an info-point, a bulletin board to display communications and information material
3C Project in Cornaredo (MI):
•Clean up perimeter edges and plant ornamental plants
•Renewing tables and chairs
•Implementation of a water collection system
•Painting the chests
•Painting the walls of Cornaredo
•Renew info-point, notice board to post communications
Other activities: Insect Hotel, Semi bombs , Fermentation in the garden
The activities can change according to the season and the needs of the vegetable gardens.
The objectives of the activity are:

• strengthening the identity of the local community
• encouraging an inclusive social model

The sorting and selection of clothes takes place at our headquarter in Pregnana Milanese. After a first introductive moment, there will be a brief explanation of the functions of the department and the tasks that will be carried out during the day.In this phase, the volunteers, helped by our experienced staff, will be engaged in activities of selection and sorting of the used clothing donated to Humana by citizens.
For each item it will be important to identify the materials with which it is produced, an indication of the year to understand if it is vintage, the level of wear. Participants will learn how the process of selection works: from the analysis of the type and condition of the clothing to the choice of the final destination within the value chain.
The objectives of the activity are:
• raise awareness about circular economy best practices and climate crisis
• collaborate closely with Humana employees and learn from them new notions
Opportunity Details
The activity involves the employees in a collection campaign of second-hand clothes within the company.Humana will organize a 30-minute webinar for the employees, which will introduce them to the organization and the activity and will provide insights into how each of us can have a positive impact on the planet. Humana will supply the containers (ecobox) that will be used to accommodate the clothes donated by the staff. The clothes donated will enter Humana supply chain of used clothing and will then contribute to the mission of the organization.
At the end of the campaign, Humana will create a report of the environmental impacts of the initiative in terms of clothes collected, litres of water saved, CO2 not emitted, unused pesticides, and fertilizers not dispersed in the environment.
This can be integrated with a swap party, which literally means "exchange party". The swap party was invented to renew the wardrobe without spending money, trading clothes and accessories still in good condition. Clothes not exchanged will be donated to Humana.To conclude, a refreshment can be organized by the company.

This volunteer role supports the day-to-day activities at our Donation Centre in support of the Free Goods Program. This includes the storage, distribution, management, and inventory of the donations that the Calgary Drop-In Centre receives. There are lots of opportunities to help out around the Donation Centre, so whether your strengths involve organization, communication, customer service, or something else entirely, we would love to have you volunteer here!

Plant Sale is one of Big Brothers Big Sisters's largest fundraisers in the Quad Cities for one-to-one youth mentoring. Plant Sale is a great community service project or company team activity as well as an avenue to meet new people, show support for children facing adversity and learn or share your knowledge about flowers. Gardening expertise is not required. From May 9-15 there are multiple shift times to get people involved with sorting and caring for flowers, assisting customers with their selections, transporting flowers, and more. We offer a wide selection of high-quality annual flowers that people come back for year after year.Available Shifts
