By hosting a shoe drive you can create community engagement, provide new opportunities for those in need AND give back to the environment. Every 20 pairs of shoes counts as 1 hour of service plus any hours spent marketing the drive and collecting/pairing shoes count as service hours as well.

Please reach out to Lizzy at LizzyS@soles4souls.org to get started!

Hosting a shoe drive can be done in 5 simple steps:

1. Choose a theme for your drive (i.e. Go Green, Thanks4Giving, Women4Women or generic “Create Your Own). Marketing materials look different depending on what you choose.

2. Register to host a shoe drive for a specific period of time and with a goal in mind: https://soles4souls.org/shoe-drive/

3. You would blast an email out to your employees, clients, customers, etc as you prefer letting them know about the drive. Flyers and links to resources will be provided for this!

4. Once the drive concludes, volunteers will count the shoes, pair them together, and bring to the local drop off location. A Soles4Souls representative will help coordinate this once a drive is registered.

Ready For Play!
As we begin to think about longer days, warm sunshine and outdoor activities, the City of San Jose's Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Service’s Volunteer Management Unit is rolling out a new “Ready For Play” program which utilizes corporate and community work teams to spruce up local parks!

During the winter months, playgrounds and picnic areas tend to sprout weeds, grow cobwebs and simply, collect dust and dirt. “Ready For Play” improves neighborhood parks, preparing them for the fun activities and play, that will be happening soon! Work groups volunteer for just 3 hours during the morning, improving the park with their time and energy—all supplies and training are provided.

Work teams from 5 to 500 are needed!

After the volunteer tasks are completed, everyone is invited to stay and play at the park! By combining the needs of the community with those that want to help improve city parks, everyone wins: neighbors young and old enjoy a clean and safe park, volunteers make a difference in the community and park maintenance staff gets ahead of the game! For more information or to volunteer in one of the city’s 200+ parks, please contact Mollie Tobias at mollie.tobias@sanjoseca.gov or (408) 595-3483.
