It has been more than 20 years since 9/11. To commemorate this occasion, we will honor the victims and heroes of that day through acts of service to support a new generation of civic-minded Americans. We invite you to join us in unity for the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. On Saturday, September 10, 2022, beginning at 0900 hours, The Mission Continues’ Killeen Service Platoon and its local community partners will host a service project honoring 9/11 through service. We will improve and overhaul an aquaponics system at Heroes Rancheros, a veteran advocacy organization based in Florence, Texas. By partnering and working with Heroes Rancheroes to rebuild their aquaponics system, we will be an integral part of their aquaponics and horticulture initiative.
The program’s goal is to promote healthy food for those in need, particularly the veterans in the Florence area. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their most basic necessities. Aside from the aquaponics and horticulture initiative, Heroes Rancheros also provide mental health education, veteran advocacy, tiny homes & housing, livestock therapy, and special skills training.
The Killeen Service Platoon is humbled and proud to partner with Heroes Rancheros and other community organizations in commemorating the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance through meaningful and impactful community service. Charlie Mike!

WaterStrong Eco-Swim clinics are designed to destroy barriers to swimming and clean water and to make water magical with its specialized curriculum in swimming, water safety and environmental education. Clinics take place where families recreate: public lakes, rivers, and swimming pools in the Portland, Oregon metro area. Volunteers join the clinic as swim instructors, water watchers, environmental educators and greeters. Because WaterStrong programs are delivered in communities where language, economic, and access barriers exist, Spanish-speaking and bilingual/bi-cultural volunteers are encouraged to join. Eco-Swim clinics vary in length from 1 hour to 1 day (maybe a week-long day camp sometime in the future). Every participant receives a free life jacket. Every volunteer receives a WaterStrong t-shirt, swim cap, sticker, and light meal. The guiding principles are "as we care for the water, the water cares for us" and "swim! learn! thrive!"Available Shifts
