Goal/Purpose:Join us in an enriching opportunity to contribute to the conservation efforts of our local environmental charity, Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas. Our primary objective is to conduct a residential canvassing campaign aimed at raising funds and collecting bottles for recycling. The funds generated will be directly channeled towards supporting the local community at the afforestation areas and enhancing the biodiversity of the two afforestation areas in Saskatoon namely Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area and George Genereux Urban Regional Park. It will also provide capacity to maintain the GPS prairie forest guide app. In addition to our primary goal of conducting door-to-door canvassing campaigns to support the Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas, our organization actively seeks opportunities to enhance our capacity and expand our reach such as training sessions or networking events. By participating in this campaign, you will play a vital role in safeguarding our natural heritage while fostering sustainable practices within our community.
Why it's Important:
The success of our door-to-door canvassing campaign is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, it provides essential financial support for the ongoing initiatives of Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas, enabling us to carry out vital conservation projects and maintain the integrity of our local ecosystems. Additionally, by collecting bottles for recycling, we actively contribute to reducing environmental pollution and promoting sustainable waste management practices. Furthermore, engaging in direct community outreach fosters awareness and appreciation for our natural surroundings, encouraging a sense of responsibility and stewardship among residents towards our environment.
Time Commitment:
Volunteers are needed intermittently throughout the spring and summer seasons to participate in group canvassing activities.
Benefits:
Support an organization making a tangible difference in the community.
Witness immediate results of your efforts through the collection of funds and bottles for recycling.
Receive comprehensive training on the organization and its campaign strategies.
