The three C’s of COVID, Conflict, and Climate Change drive this crisis, and unless we act now, the situation may become even more dire. However, as many experts have agreed, supporting small-scale farmers, sustainable agriculture, and localized food systems are among the most promising solutions to this crisis.
Learn how Heifer International works globally to help millions of families earn better incomes while producing food for their communities and the world in climate-smart ways. Heifer’s values-based development model even supports equity and understanding within and across our work communities.
As we discuss how critical healthy food systems are to avoiding even greater food insecurity, we will also highlight how you can volunteer in your community and take action at home to help end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth.
The work of Heifer International helps families in 21 countries, including the US, to lift themselves from hunger and poverty to health and prosperity. This program will support that work, and participants will also have the opportunity to volunteer at a local food bank to support their own communities.
This event can be offered throughout the month of October, except for 10/17-10/20.

The IRC’s New Roots program embraces the strong farming and food cultures of refugees, developing gardens, urban farms, and marketplaces to produce food, leaders, livelihoods, and resilient communities. A group of 10 - 15 volunteers will help paint the garden’s wood structure or provide cleanup/maintenance for the garden. Happening every Friday in October 2022. #Give2022

Riverfront Recapture's mission is to connect people with the Connecticut River. Access is through Riverfront's four parks along both banks of the Connecticut River in Hartford and East Hartford. Volunteer support in our parks is essential to keeping the parks beautiful and well-maintained. Projects range from weeding, mulching, planting, trimming, sweeping, painting, and more. Join City Year Seattle/King County in beautifying the school grounds of a Seattle Public School in South Seattle. Our main focus will be litter abatement, and we will do some landscape beautification if volunteer numbers allow. Help us create a welcoming school environment for students in Seattle! This event can be repeated for multiple groups of volunteers. Minimum group size is 5, maximum group size is 50. We ask for volunteer groups to supply $50 per person per hour volunteering, or a group project sponsorship of $2,500.---
City Year Seattle is an anti-racist, youth-centered organization powered by AmeriCorps members – young leaders who dedicate a year of service to make Seattle’s schools equitable by helping students reach their academic goals. We’re proud to once again be teaming up with our longstanding non-profit partner, Living Lands and Waters, to host an outdoor watershed clean-up event along the Mississippi River to help build a cleaner watershed and a more sustainable world – starting right here in St. Louis. Állatok ellátása:- Állataink érdeke, hogy megismerjék a szocializáció fogalmát, amit a rendszeres foglalkozás által tudnak elsajátítani. Ebben a témakörben végezhető tevékenységek: szőrzetápolás, játék, a kutyák sétáltatása, kutyaiskolában való képzése stb.
- A menhelyen elszállásolt állatok kényelme és egészsége szempontjából fontos feladat a futtatók, sétáltató terület takarítása és rendbetétele.
- Nagy segítség a hordozók és egyéb eszközök és felszerelések rendezése, javítása, tisztítása.
Az Alapítvány működésének segítése:
- Rendezvények, adománygyűjtő kampányok előkészítésében, lebonyolításában való közreműködés.
- Adományok beszerzése, szállítása, rendszerezése és pakolása nagy segítség számunkra.
- Oktatásban, táborozásban, gyerekekkel való foglalkozásban is várjuk a lelkes önkéntesek segítségét.
