Demonstrate your support of the environment by helping us prepare our grounds for the nation’s longest running grassroots event of its kind! This year we are celebrating 31 years of bringing people together to learn about sustainability and clean energy, connect with others, and take action toward a sustainable future. With over Workshops, Exhibits, Farm & Garden Tours, Artisan Market, Yoga, Live Music, food and fun all weekend long, we need reliable people to help us ready the grounds in time for the big event!
Tasks will mostly consist of outdoor tasks; however, we can discuss the possibility of indoor work if desired. Typical volunteer tasks include landscaping, clearing brush, painting picnic tables, preparing the MREA garden, and driving our kubota!

Opportunity Details

The girls put in countless hours building the pergola. Now, it is time to frame and enclose the Monarch Butterfly way station. The Monarch way station has been created to support the pollinator population. The children have observed 30 plus chrysalis and butterflies in just the last month. Our way station is important due to the extinction of the Monarch Butterfly. It gives a resting spot for the Monarch on their journey to Mexico. We have been listed on the Monarch Butterfly watch.org website due to the volume of Monarch activity in our location because of the environment we have created for the butterflies. This encourages and promotes education in our environment, science, social studies, math etc...

Opportunity Details

Flint Cycle Fest is a new event for anyone who likes to ride a bike, from beginners to enthusiasts, of all ages and abilities. There are 3 different distances as well as a separate component for children ages 6 and under to learn how to ride bikes safely. Flint Cycle Fest will be a celebration of Flint's growing biking community, with proceeds supporting neighborhood improvements for cyclists in Flint and Genesee County.

Opportunity Details

Earth Shine is excited to announce that we will be hosting a monthly Cleanup Day at the Paso Robles River Walk. This event takes place from 9:30-12:30 every Third Saturday of the month. These times include booth setup and teardown.

The Paso Robles River Walk is a beautiful scenic path created for walkers and bicyclists and parallels the Salinas River. Unfortunately, this area has seen increased littering throughout the years and Earth Shine is focused on helping to maintain the beauty of this local treasure.

Our volunteers help to pick up litter, dispose of abandoned shopping carts from local retailers, and to assist in community outreach of this program.

Kidney Walk Special Event Volunteer - Ontario Branch

Description: The Kidney Foundation of Canada requires Special Event volunteers to support the Ontario Kidney Walks in the following areas:
• Registration
• Route Marshaling/Cheer Crowd
• Set Up/Take Down
• Food and Beverage Stations
• Kids Activities
• Photography

Groups Served: Kidney patients, their families, renal practitioners and doctors

Skills Required: Friendly, enthusiastic and enjoys working with others. Must be able to work as part of a team. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Previous volunteer experience at a special event is an asset

Task Requirements: Carrying and lifting; Dexterity and agility; Walking and/or standing; Communication; Reading and Writing

Suitable for: Corporate Teams; Groups of volunteers

Training: Information with meeting spot and staff lead will be provided to all volunteers in advance of event day. Staff member on-site provides additional orientation and training during the event.

Accessibility: Has accessible parking; Has accessible washrooms

Clean up, weed, trim and remove unwanted debris from a scenic central outdoor courtyard located in the middle of a large long term care facility, owned by Volunteers of America dba as Autumnwood Care Center. The landscaping has been professionally done but is in need of updating and maintenance. This area includes a large gazebo and a goldfish pond as well as several large flowering trees and shrubs.
