Wetlands Restoration Day
at the
Chattahoochee Nature Center
Date: Saturday, February 24, 2018

Registered Volunteer Report Time: 1 pm

Volunteer Departure Time: 4:00 pm
Volunteers will be working in the wetlands at the Chattahoochee Nature Center and then finishing up by helping us to haul out the removed invasive plants and clean and stow away any tools were used.

Parking: in the regular CNC parking lot

Check in Location: In front of "Scheduling Office"
We will handle volunteer check-in at the end of the parking lot, near the "scheduling" building (the one with the solar panels of the roof). Please stop by to check-in and drop off/complete your waiver form.

What to wear: Clothing that will provide protection and that can also get wet and dirty.
Please dress according to the weather. Layering is a good idea if it is cool in the morning. Volunteers will be working in the wetlands part of the CNC property. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and clothing and shoes that can get dirty. You might want to bring a change of clothes or shoes for the ride home.

What to bring: Gloves, and any outdoor-related allergy medications
The CNC has a supply of work gloves for volunteers, but if you have your own, please plan to bring them. If you have plant or insect allergies please arrive prepared with any needed medications. Please alert the Naturalist that you will be working with about your condition.

Weather: Plan to report...unless you get an email from us!
In the event of expected steady rain, this woodland restoration day may be cancelled. In the event of a cancellation, the pre-registered volunteers and group leaders will receive an email - close to 12pm - though this email system.

What you will be doing: Helping us remove privet and other invasive plants
This invasive removal day will focus on removing privet and other invasives from our wetlands.

Waivers: If you are under 18, you need to complete IN ADVANCE
Event volunteers at the CNC will need to sign a waiver form at check-in. Those under 18, will need to have the form signed by a parent/guardian. Please complete the attached form and bring it with you to the event.

Opportunity Details

This opportunity involves supporting efforts for food security with sustainable farms or in helping to increase water security in the mountains and coastal Puerto Rico. Participants would assist local sustainable farms in planting, farming, etc and/or help with installing rainwater collection systems.
