Our largest and most widely-used entrance, Grand Army Plaza (GAP) is one of Prospect Park’s most popular destinations and the setting of beloved events like Prospect Park’s Green Market and the Park’s New Year’s Eve fireworks. Natural areas surrounding GAP often experience strain due to heavy foot traffic and consistent usage. Help us care for the natural areas near GAP by getting your hands dirty and assisting with path edging, trail maintenance, invasive plant removal, and other beautifying activities in this popular part of Prospect Park!Available Shifts

Come lend a hand to the land and the birds! As members of the Allegheny Bird Conservation Alliance, Allegheny Land Trust, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and Western Pennsylvania Conservancy have teamed up to improve bird habitat in Dead Man's Hollow Conservation Area, a 450-acre conservation area that provides significant habitat for forest interior-dwelling bird species.
As part of a plan to provide even better habitat for our winged friends, join fellow volunteers in restoration improvement through planting native trees and shrubs.
Wear appropriate footwear and outerwear. We will work rain or shine but will reschedule in case of thunderstorms. Activities will require climbing over various surfaces, including wet and muddy areas, and working near thorns and brush. Attendees are asked to work at their own ability.
Water, snacks, and tools provided. Please bring your own reusable water bottle if possible.
