Join City Year Seattle/King County in beautifying the school grounds of a Seattle Public School in South Seattle. Our main focus will be litter abatement, and we will do some landscape beautification if volunteer numbers allow. Help us create a welcoming school environment for students in Seattle! This event can be repeated for multiple groups of volunteers. Minimum group size is 5, maximum group size is 50. We ask for volunteer groups to supply $50 per person per hour volunteering, or a group project sponsorship of $2,500.---
City Year Seattle is an anti-racist, youth-centered organization powered by AmeriCorps members – young leaders who dedicate a year of service to make Seattle’s schools equitable by helping students reach their academic goals. Our corps members work ten hours/day as fulltime as “student success coaches” inside the classrooms of 8 systemically under-resourced public schools in south Seattle. #Give2022

It has been more than 20 years since 9/11. To commemorate this occasion, we will honor the victims and heroes of that day through acts of service to support a new generation of civic-minded Americans. We invite you to join us in unity for the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. On Saturday, September 10, 2022, beginning at 0900 hours, The Mission Continues’ Killeen Service Platoon and its local community partners will host a service project honoring 9/11 through service. We will improve and overhaul an aquaponics system at Heroes Rancheros, a veteran advocacy organization based in Florence, Texas. By partnering and working with Heroes Rancheroes to rebuild their aquaponics system, we will be an integral part of their aquaponics and horticulture initiative.
The program’s goal is to promote healthy food for those in need, particularly the veterans in the Florence area. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their most basic necessities. Aside from the aquaponics and horticulture initiative, Heroes Rancheros also provide mental health education, veteran advocacy, tiny homes & housing, livestock therapy, and special skills training.
The Killeen Service Platoon is humbled and proud to partner with Heroes Rancheros and other community organizations in commemorating the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance through meaningful and impactful community service. Charlie Mike!
