Spend the evening supporting your local parks, wildlife habitat, and working lands across the state by volunteering at the Coalition’s annual fundraiser, Today's Success, Tomorrow's Legacy 2024.

We will be meeting on October 17 from 5 to 8 PM at Stoup Brewing's new Capitol Hill location in Seattle, WA, for drinks and food. During our short but meaningful program, we will celebrate our past and present accomplishments while looking forward to the future of outdoor recreation and the inclusive groups spearheading that growth.

Who we are:

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program brings together the voices of a large and diverse group of people who care about Washington’s outdoors. Together, we promote and advocate for state and federal funding for parks, wildlife habitat, and working lands across Washington.

To date, the Coalition has successfully leveraged over $2 billion in state, local, and private dollars through the WWRP grant program for over 1,700+ parks, trails, wildlife habitat, and working lands projects including over 365K acres of land preserved. That’s why we need your help with our upcoming fundraiser!

Volunteer tasks will be available for a variety of abilities. Set up and clean up volunteers should be able to lift 15 pounds.

Volunteers are welcome to join for one shift or the whole event. Please contact Sophia (Sophia@WildlifeRecreation.org) for partial-shift options.

Volunteers receive a free ticket to join us for the rest of the event as well.

Food & Drinks will be provided

We have a number of sites around West London where we organise tree planting days.

In 2019 we successfully delivered a tree planting effort in Tower Hamlets where we planted 10 trees in conjunction with Tower Hamlets Council, The Mayor of London and the Faiths Forum for London.

We are looking to work with businesses and the community to deliver a series of corporate volunteering events to plant trees in the West London area to benefit the natural environment.

In 2020 we successfully planted 10 trees in Hounslow Crane Park for the community and environment.

In 2021 we planted 10 trees in conjunction with Lampton Greenspace 360 in Hanworth Park, this project was coordinated with Heathrow Airport Ltd and involved a collaborative venture with their employees encouraging volunteering in the community and environmental awareness.

Our goal is to help those who are vulnerable, as well as create a better understanding of the importance of sustainability and recyling/ reusing the resources available to us.

These sites have been identified as being less accessible to the community and initiatives that improve this area as greener spaces have been encouraged by the local councils we work with. It is directly from their support and direction that these sites have been selected in consultation with the community.

We will work together with the local councils across London and volunteers to locate the best places for the trees and then invite people to participate on
arranged days to join together and plant the trees as a community effort.

We will upskill those attending by providing training in BS standard tree planting
and gardening, offering an access point to employability.

Tools and PPE will be provided, weather and digging appropriate clothing and footwear is essential.

Public liability insurance is in place for this activity.

We invite you to participate in learning how we take Action Against Hunger! This experience is scalable and designed to foster a deeper connection with our mission through interactive, educational activities. Whether you choose to host a group or have someone from our team facilitate, this event brings your colleagues together for impactful learning and engagement. Plus, we’ll provide prizes—bracelets made in the field—as a meaningful memento.

Here’s how you can get involved:

Activity Station 1: Action Against Hunger Quiz
Kick off the day with a fun, interactive quiz about global nutrition and our life-saving work. This activity promotes meaningful conversations and educates participants on surprising facts and figures. With a live leaderboard, participants can engage in some friendly competition while learning about our mission.

This opportunity is scalable, and you can incorporate additional stations such as:

Activity Station 2: ‘Guess the Ingredients of a RUTF Bar’ Challenge
Experience the life-saving power of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) in this hands-on challenge. Participants will have the opportunity to feel an RUTF bar and guess the ingredients by placing their names in jars labeled with various options—some ingredients are featured in the bar, and some are not. It’s a fun way to learn about the simple, yet crucial, tools we use to combat severe acute malnutrition.

Activity Station 3: Learn About a MUAC Band
Discover how we identify malnutrition with a simple yet vital tool—the mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) band. Participants will learn how to use this tool and why it’s essential in our efforts to save lives by screening children and adults for malnutrition.

These activities can be completed together, fostering team camaraderie, or as quick individual stations that take as little as 15 minutes. Whether you participate in all stations or just one, this event offers flexible, impactful ways to engage with our mission. We ask that you provide the lunch, and we’ll bring the prizes.

Join us in these activities to raise awareness, educate, and learn how we support those most in need. Together, we can take meaningful action against hunger.

Min/Max Participants: There is no minimum or maximum number of participants required.

Go to this link for details & registration: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1024282034137?aff=oddtdtcreator

Join us for our 7th annual Lower Sycamore Cleanup Event!

Everyone is welcome, including youth volunteers when they are accompanied & supervised by a parent, guardian, or adult group leader. We would be happy to sign off on service hours or provide a Confirmation of Volunteer Service letter for youth volunteers.

Sign-in: 7:30-8:00 a.m. | Safety Briefing: 8 a.m. | Cleanup starts: after safety briefing | Free raffle starts at 12 p.m.

Please arrive before the safety briefing so you can park and get signed in.

Volunteers with OHV’s & 4x4’s: this is an OHV area cleanup, if you have an OHV or 4X4, we need your help running the trail down to the wash to pick up trash. If you have a truck or trailer, we could use your help hauling loads of trash to the dumpsters. We will have gloves for you, but we suggest you bring sturdy work gloves, especially for stuff that has been used for target practice.

Non OHV/4-Wheel Drive Volunteers: You do not need an OHV (off-highway vehicle)or 4x4 to participate, the road to the sign-in table in is graded but wash boarded so drive slowly & carefully. We highly recommend not driving a car past the parking corral at the bottom of the hill where you sign-in or you will likely get stuck. There are plenty of areas within walking distance of the parking corral that need our help.

Everyone will meet back at the sign-in area at noon for a free raffle. Volunteers will receive a free raffle ticket at sign-in (must be present to win).

We will have at least 3 designated 40-yard dumpsters for everyone to put their trash in so we can get an accurate weight of the amount of trash everyone helps remove.

What to wear: Check the forecast & dress accordingly. Please wear clothing & shoes that can get dirty, muddy, and possibly wet. Wear long pants, thick-sole & closed toe sturdy shoes (no flipflops/sandals), a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

What to bring: please bring a reusable water bottle or hydration backpack. We will have coolers with water & ice for you to refill and bottled water if anyone needs it. We will provide gloves, bags, trash grabbers, buckets, & rakes. You will be near your vehicle the entire time so you could bring a small cooler with cold beverages and snacks if you'd like.

Snacks: we will have snacks for volunteers, including fruit.
Unfortunately, we not longer have grant funding for a volunteer lunch. If your organization would like to sponsor lunch for volunteers, please reach out to us.

Tonto Recreation Pass: You do NOT need one for this location.

Bathrooms: Stellar Adventures is donating the use of their bathrooms, they will be onsite during the cleanup in the staging area. Thank you, Stellar Adventures!!!

Free Volunteer Raffle: We are hosting a free volunteer raffle at noon for participating volunteers. Everyone will receive a raffle ticket at sign-in, must be present to win. If you or your organization would like to donate to the raffle, please contact us (info below).
