Join EarthEcho to Engage Young People in Water Quality Monitoring at the Bay Area Science Festival.

The Bay Area Science Festival Discovery Days are large-scale, highly visible, outdoor events where the Bay Area’s many STEM organizations connect with thousands of youth and adults. The result? Super-charged, super-fun celebrations of science! These free events feature hundreds of dynamic demonstrations, engaging experiments, and geeky games and draw families from all around the Bay Area.

Join youth leaders from EarthEcho International to host an interactive exhibit to engage young people in learning about the importance of water quality through hands on water testing with the EarthEcho Water Challenge. Volunteers will help young people test water samples from San Francisco Bay for pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, and turbidity. Through these experiments, young people will learn about the importance of citizen science and the steps they can take to protect their local waterways. All volunteer training will be provided on site and no prior experience with the Water Challenge program is needed to participate.

The Ice Age Trail Alliance is a volunteer- and member-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to create, support, and protect a thousand-mile footpath tracing Ice Age formations across Wisconsin — the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. The Alliance has 19 volunteer chapters, including the Rock County Chapter.

Come volunteer with the Rock County Chapter along the Arbor Ridge segment of trail located within the Robert Cook Memorial Arboretum in Janesville. After a short hike into the work site, you’ll be trained on the techniques needed to maintain the trail’s tread, which involves removing plants and other material that have accumulated at the edge of the trail and reshaping the tread surface.

Bring with you a good attitude, work gloves, sturdy shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, water, and a snack.

MUSIC IS THE ANSWER – macht mit und werdet Teil unserer Parade-Crew 2023!

Juli 2023 in Berlin wieder Geschichte schreiben – mit der „Rave The Planet Parade – MUSIC IS THE ANSWER“.

Weitere Infos zu den Aufgaben

🦺 ORDNER:INNEN

💶 SPENDENTEAMS

GSI invites volunteers to mentor young girls, ages 13-18, who are part of a 5-person team with the goal of developing a business solution and a digital application and pitch their project to a panel of judges on the final day of the conference. Each team is given tools for business formation and developing a financial and marketing plan which solves a problem within climate change. The girls apply online to participate and when approved, the HQ will assign the girls and mentors to teams, two weeks before the event. HQ will schedule the team meetings and provide all of the supporting team material. We look to have an adult mentor and a peer mentor for each team. The experiences mentors have expressed to GSI, following the event, share their excitement and feeling of transformation as a result of participating in our team events.
