The Ann Arbor Backyard Beekeepers are dedicated to education and outreach in the area of honeybees and other pollinators and their importance with regards to the environment and our food supply.

This bake sale will help us raise money to pay for educational speakers and buy equipment for our club's teaching apiary.

This bake sale will feature mainly baked goods made with honey or otherwise bee inspired, sale of member honey and wax products, sale of coffee, and a guessing game.

Carpet Inventory Preparation Team Volunteers
3 hours of volunteer work can raise Habitat several thousand dollars!


Can you spare 3 hours prepping carpet to raise needed funds to serve our mission? Do you have 2-4 friends who are able to do some physical work with you?


This is one of the most powerful uses of your volunteer time.


Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity has been blessed with large donations of new residential and commercial carpet for resale. This is an ideal product for the ReStore because it generates really significant revenue and drives more customers to the stores. This revenue is used to support Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity and our local mission.



We have a dire need for volunteers to process the large rolls into manageable retail inventory. This is a critical step in turning donations into dollars that can be used in the construction of Habitat homes, weatherization, repair projects and home ownership preparedness education programs. Your time will generate a major source of funds to help our families build strength, stability, and self-reliance.



We are looking for groups of 3-5 people to help with this mission-critical project. The process would include working with Independence ReStore management to cut large rolls into smaller lengths. Volunteers would need to be able to bend, crawl, and work/cut on a concrete floor in a minimally heated building and comfortably be able to lift 50lbs. Typical shifts are 3 hours with breaks. The best days for this will be Tues., Thurs., and Saturday.

Carpet sold at the ReStore brings in major funding!



How Your Time Becomes Needed Funding
Carpet is cut into four to five 12’x20’ rolls that would retail for just over $100 each
In a 3 hour session 3-5 volunteers can cut 20-30 pieces.
20 pieces at $100 each can bring in $2,000
30 pieces at $100 each can bring in $3,000
Customers coming in for carpet also buy other items making it even more valuable.

Opportunity Details

Volunteers will work in our Learnscape Garden and/or help prepare the Frohnmayer Footbridge for a mural painting project later this summer. All supplies and equipment will be provided. Wear comfortable weather-appropriate clothes that can get dirty and bring a water bottle.

The goal of Creek Week is to learn about the value our urban creeks have to offer us and to improve these creeks by removing man-made garbage from them. Volunteers are encouraged to be Citizen Scientists on the clean-up day by doing water quality testing or collecting data on the garbage at their sited. Volunteers also have the opportunity to do restoration work such as invasive plant removal or native plantings at selected sites. These activities remove wildlife as well as flood hazards and beautify creeks and creek trails.

North Hills Community Outreach’s (NHCO) Rosalinda Sauro Sirianni Garden is a volunteer, community-supported organic garden. During the 2019 growing season, we grew nearly 5,000 pounds of fresh produce for our three food pantries, serving over 1,0000 families in need. We need volunteers to help weed, spread wood chips and seed garden beds to help our garden grow.
