What's involved in the session:

Tour of Our Warehouse: Understand our operations and engage with our process.
Team Activities: Work together in teams to prepare for upcoming distributions.
Impact Stories: Hear firsthand accounts of how SolarBuddy lights have transformed lives and communities. These stories will highlight the profound difference your efforts can make.
Activities on the day:
Depending on the needs of SolarBuddy you could be assisting in a variety of activities during your volunteering session including:
Quality control of JuniorBuddy or StudentBuddy lights:
Before our lights are distributed to those who need them, we ensure that
they are assembled correctly. Use your problem-solving skills and eye for
detail to ensure that all the screws are there, the lights work and are ready
to be sent to children globally.
Quality control of letters:
Everyone who assembles one of our lights is asked to write a letter to the child receiving it. Use your eye for detail to ensure that guidelines have been followed from our LetterBuddy program.
Letter writing:
Letters are an integral and important part of our programs. For many, these letters are the first piece of formal communication that the children will have received outside of their community. They are cherished and read over and over. Occasionally we receive lights back without letters so we will ask you to use your creative skills to write heartwarming letters to a child receiving a solar solution.
Enhance our impact by reviewing media for marketing material:
Review photos and videos from communities where lights have been
distributed. These will then be added to our website, social media and YouTube channel.

To participate, request free tickets to the online mapathons which take place on the first Tuesday of every month - https://www.tickettailor.com/events/missingmapslondon/1040085?#.Maps are crucial in humanitarian response, they allow organizations like Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) to find and reach patients, assess the needs of crisis-hit communities, track disease spread, and respond to local events.
Unfortunately, the quality of map data in the places where MSF works is often limited. As a virtual volunteer, you will add previously un-mapped communities in areas vulnerable to natural disasters, disease outbreaks, epidemics, and conflict. For the people living in these remote areas, you'll provide something so fundamental that most of the world takes it for granted.
Practice a new skill and make a real difference for some of the planet's most vulnerable people. All whilst sat at your desk.
No previous experience is required; all participants will map at the beginner level and receive a tutorial and guidance from experienced mappers during the session.
