EcoFest 2016 is a community event organized by Learning Gate Community School, the City of Tampa and the USF Patel College of Global Sustainability to celebrate the many businesses, organizations, and individuals in the Tampa Bay area dedicated to the principles of sustainability – Ecology, Equity and Economy.Our 7th Annual EcoFest will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at the Lowry Park bandshell area – 7525 N. Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33604. The event will be open to the public from 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Admission to the event is free. There will be live music, workshops, demonstrations, informational booths, green living products and services. Some local artists, green businesses, environmental organizations, alternative health practitioners, renewable energy specialists, organic farms and gardens with produce will be in attendance.

Spend time in one of the most beautiful parks in Calgary where the Elbow River flows into the Glenmore Reservoir. Help remove invasive plants that threaten to replace native vegetation, lower biodiversity, and impact water quality ... We are not talking pulling a few dandelions but digging out shrubs - as big as you like - so a real work-out is guaranteed... Since we started in 2009 volunteers have removed over 12,700 invasive shrubs. Help us complete the job!

The Live Earth Farm Discovery Program is seeking enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to help make our annual Sheep to Shawl Fair a success on March 19th 2016, 10:00am-2:00pm!This community based event, located at the Live Earth farm in Watsonville, is fun day of farm-based activities & programs for the whole family. The festival will feature live music by the Banana Slug String Band & an assortment of local vendors including Penny Ice Creamery, Happy Girl Kitchen Co., and more!
Skilled and unskilled volunteers will help run hands-on activities that turn the wool off a sheep's back into clothing and art. Volunteers are needed to help set up, clean up, & manage booth activities (face painting, scouring, carding, knitting, crocheting, dying). Professionals will be on hand to demonstrate, rug making, spinning, weaving, and shearing.
Volunteers will not only keep the festival running smoothly, but help local children and their families learn to take care of themselves, their communities, and their environment through local food and fiber networks.
Because the event is outdoors, we reccomend comfortable clothes, close toed shoes, hats, and sunblock. Bring water, and be ready to get dusty and have a lot of fun in the process!

Opportunity Details
Multiple 4-day long internships are available to assist in-field SRBTC partners during spring, summer and fall.Interns must have a background in wildlife biology or fisheries and be engaged in a bachelors or masters program focusing on this work. Special consideration is available for unusual situations.
In some locations, eg Red Brook at The Lyman Reserve, lodging for 2 individuals may be available.
Work may include assisting with fisheries biologists in electrofishing and biological sampling, mapping, trail maintenance, habitat improvement and other work as directed by SRBTC partner. Specialty clothing required would include waders, outdoor clothing, sunblock, insect repellent.

Opportunity Details
Hidden Villa offers educational programs to casual visitors, families, and groups during the weekends. We are looking for volunteers to work with weekend staff and help guide farm tours, support educational programs, and volunteer as Ambassadors.Typical Volunteer time frames are between 2 and 4 hours and can be coordinated with the Public Programs and Volunteer Departments.
Training is provided.
