Sofas for Service provides household furnishings and buys new beds for Veterans in Need. This is our main fundraiser for the year and we have been unable to have it the past 2 years due to Covid. We are very excited to be able to have it again. We helped 128 Veterans last year and are already approaching 40 Veterans so far this year. We accomplish this all with donations and volunteer help. We look forward to working with Kohls for this project. The volunteers will make sure that our dinner guest have what they need at their tables, resetting tables, cleaning up afterwards.Available Shifts

Created with Purpose - an event designed to inspire and empower women in our community while raising emotional and financial awareness for Matrix Lifecare Center. The theme for this year is His Hope Blooms. It will take place on Thursday, May 5 at Connection Point Church from 6:00 - 10:00 PM.This year’s event will feature approximately 6 local, women-centered, vendors. Our guests will have two opportunities to visit our vendor booth (1.5hrs prior to the programming and another 30 minutes after the programming). We will invite attendees to enjoy a coffee bar provided by Khiro Coffee, and a dessert buffet. Led by the worship band from Connection Point Church, the event will have a mixture of worship music, inspirational speakers, and breakout sessions.
Volunteers at this event make it possible for us to connect with our guests and make connections that provide the resources that empower the women in our community to make life-affirming decisions.
We would have volunteers help with a variety of tasks at this event. They can help with set up (prior to 6 pm), setting up & replenishing our dessert buffet and beverages (from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM) and assisting with various tasks throughout the event to help it run smoothly. (7:30 PM - 10:00 PM).

The Uptown Music Festival is a community-focused fundraiser benefiting the University Area CDC. This festival was created to encourage visitation to the University Area and to be a conduit for cobranding the University Area and the Uptown District, while simultaneously raising much-needed support for the University Area CDC. Audience: People of all ages are expected to attend the Uptown Music Festival and we are confident we will continue to grow this number yearly as more people become engaged in the area and want to be involved in emphasizing the importance of community and economic development of the University Area/Uptown District.
UPTOWN MUSIC FESTIVAL
The Uptown Music Festival was created to bring the Uptown District of Tampa Florida together to highlight the rich culture of the area through music. This one-day event will draw Tampa residents and surrounding cities to the Uptown District of Tampa Florida for a day of music and art to benefit the programs and services of the University Area CDC.
We are excited to announce this lineup of artists for the 2022 Uptown Music Festival:
Nathan Mitchell – 2-time GRAMMY winning, nominated, and BILLBOARD artists.
Jose Valentino - Jazz, Latin jazz, funk/fusion, pop, R&B, world music, and singer-songwriter.
Jazmin Ghent – international smooth jazz and gospel recording artist
Althea Rene - a dynamic, soulful flutist with a bent toward contemporary jazz, funk, and instrumental R&B.
Kim Waters - One of the biggest selling saxophonists to date.
Tim George - Local Bassist from St. Petersburg who has performed with Ray Charles.
With over 20,000 residents living in unincorporated Hillsborough County with major institutions such as the University of South Florida, Moffitt Cancer Center, Advent Health and Uptown (University Mall), this festival is destined to become one of the premier cultural events in the Tampa Bay area. This outdoor event held in the beautiful University Area Park located at 14013 N. 22nd Street, Tampa, FL 33613 will be a fun and relaxing evening for the whole family to enjoy. Limited Reserved seating will be available along with general admission lawn seating. Bring your outdoor chairs, blankets and enjoy this art and jazz experience.
