The Arcadia PTO organizes a June Carnival to celebrate the end of the school year. Our students and community look forward to the games, activities, food, and dunk tank. The event is put on for fun, not as a fundraiser. We do sell tickets to break even on the expenses, but we also provide many free tickets to students so everyone can enjoy the festivities.

The Junior Maccabi Games is a one-day Olympic style sporting event for young Jewish athletes ages 9 - 12 being held this year at the Kaiserman JCC in Wynnewood, PA- just outside of Philadelphia. Approximately 1,000 youth from JCCs throughout the mid-Atlantic region - from Springfield, MA to Richmond, VA - will convene at the Kaiserman JCC on Sunday, May 5 at 8:00am for a fun-filled day of healthy athletic competition and engaging social and cultural experiences. Following an exciting opening ceremony, athletes will be transported to one of six different event sites to compete against their peers in his or her sport of choice: soccer, baseball, basketball, swimming, or tennis. Medals are awarded to the top contenders in each sport.

Volunteers are needed for set-up on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm, and on game-day, Sunday, May 5, 2019, 6:00am until 6:00pm. A minimum commitment of two hours is requested of all volunteers. Examples of volunteer jobs include: setting up event sites, distributing lunches to athletes, monitoring buses, and managing event sites. There are many opportunities to choose from and all volunteers will receive event shirts.

In his honor, we are holding a fundraiser to support underprivileged youth in our community. On Saturday, April 27th, Safe & Sound with community partners will host the Annual Metcalfe Park Neighborhood Clean Up. Every year, Safe & Sound staff coordinate clean ups in April to recognize the Great American Cleanup and Earth Day. In the past, this event has worked with more than 200 volunteers to collect hundreds of bags of trash in the neighborhood.

This is an opportunity to support the efforts of the Boys & Girls Club of Aberdeen Area by helping out with their food concessions on April 5 &/or April 6 at the annual bull riding event at the Expo Building at the Brown County Fairgrounds. Shift times are 5:30PM - 10:00PM. I know that this is more than the 3 hours required for the match but if the volunteers could fill the entire shift that would be great.
