BurlyCon is a volunteer-run organization! We have a wide variety of opportunities for those interested in contributing their skills to making this event fantastic. Year-round committee positions are open to those who wish to be deeply involved in making the event happen. Day-of-event opportunities are open for those who wish to help out during the busy event itself. Opportunity Details

Come volunteer at our annual Sheep to Shawl event at our farm. We host a variety of stations, as well as demonstrations of shearing sheep. This event has each step of turning hand spun wool into sustainable textiles and toys. No experience is needed to volunteer. There will be vendors, food, and live music, and is very family friendly.

Help extend a gourmet welcome to youth who have too often been on the short end of love and care!

Evergreen is our centre for street-involved youth serving food to approximately 80 to 100 youth daily. You will help staff to lovingly prepare and serve a warm, nutritious meal and help with clean-up afterwards. A tour of Evergreen is included.

Evergreen extends a broad range of services and robust programs to youth all year long and our meal programs are often a point of entry to better things for youth’s lives!

Opportunity Details

Three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), we serve hot meals to families, bringing them together and giving them a chance so socialize. By bringing these families together we hope to strengthen the community and provide an opportunity for attendees to get to know the people around them. We serve between 100 and 200 people three times a week at a cost of $1,800 per week.

We always need and appreciate volunteers to help with cooking and serving as well as monetary donations to help operate the program.

Opportunity Details

North Helpline Emergency Services and Food Bank is in need of new volunteers to help with our weekly food distributions. Food bank volunteers help distribute food to our clients, restock our distribution lines and sort food donations. We have four food bank shifts available every Wednesday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, Thursdays 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm, Fridays 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and Saturdays from 9:30 to 1:30. A brief orientation will be provided at the beginning of the shift.

Volunteers are needed for set-up, replenishing the tables, clean-up, ushers, guest check-in.
The MLK Society hosts a community breakfast before the parade at the only church Dr. King visited when he came to Oklahoma in the early 60's. Dignitaries, legislators and the general public are invited to enjoy a hearty continental breakfast before the parade.
