Volunteer serving a hot lunch to seniors in the Lakeview East neighborhood of Chicago. Responsibilities include serving plates of food from the kitchen, bussing tables, running an industrial dishwasher, chatting with seniors, bringing a positive attitude to our program and community. Volunteers can sign up for any weekday from 11am-1pm.

The 10th annual Taste of Unity Harvest Party is a fund-raising event to celebrate local food, local chefs, and fellowship.

The venue includes a beautiful banquet room graciously hosted by the Palais Royale and Navarre Hospitality Group.

Guests will enjoy visiting stations of the area’s best local chefs, preparing a variety of delightful tapas; small appetizers for all to enjoy!

This event offers businesses and community members a fun opportunity to help “grow” our community through Unity! Enjoy our live music, silent auction, and cash bar.

Members of the Kohl's team will assist with sales, serving and patron welcoming.

We collect new merchandise and small gifts from independent business franchises, stores, and our volunteers to raise funds for our HUGE annual event...."The Very Special Prom." (Please view videos & photos on our website....www.tcolife.org). The pandemic unfortunately eliminated 99% of all donations, as well as forced the cancellation of 99% of the Craft Sales & Holiday Sales that offer us a Vendor Table at which to seek donations. This project will be a two-day event, over October 14/15th, 2022,,,,a Friday & Saturday, at a very compassionate, small church allowing us to use their facilities in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh, PA. Volunteers are needed for a 1-3 hours volunteer shift each day, to help price sale items, arrange display tables, and total guest purchases on Friday, October 14th, and Saturday, October 15th at the Gibsonia, PA church location listed below. Recently, Hands On Hartford launched the first "Pay what you can" cafe/restaurant in the State of CT - Gather 55. The concept is everyone gets treated like a guest at a restaurant and can order off a menu. If you can afford to pay the full restaurant price for your meal, you do it. If you can afford to pay a partial payment, you do that. If don't have a penny in your pocket - you pay nothing and are treated just the same. The idea is to bring all types of people together around high quality food and give everyone a sense of dignity. The proceeds from those who can pay help address food insecurity in the greater Hartford area. The model only works if we have volunteers! We need volunteers to help with both "front of the house" and "back of the house" restaurant jobs - serving, plating, busing tables, helping with food prep in kitchen, taking orders, sanitizing tables, etc. Shifts are 8:00AM to 10:30AM Monday Sept 12th and 8:00AM to 10:30AM Thursday September 15th and we can accommodate as many as 5 people per shift.
