The Fedora Open is the major fundraiser for The Michael “Mickey” Soroka Charitable Foundation. It is held in the summer in advance of the major project requests that occur in the fall generated by the teachers and staff of the K-12 Campbell City Schools. Normally, we hold two fundraisers each year. The two annual fundraisers generate funds that provide educational assistance and contribute to academic programs which inspire and guide students of Campbell City Schools. However, due to the pandemic, the 2021 March Breakfast fundraiser was cancelled just as both fundraisers were cancelled in 2020. The Soroka Foundation does not have any paid staff, so all net fundraising is used for the education of students

Volunteers Power Bike MS

From planning event details and stuffing packets to providing safety and support for cyclists on ride day, Bike MS® would not be possible without volunteers.

Everyone Can Volunteer
Families, corporate groups, and individuals of all ages and abilities are welcome to volunteer. We are always looking for youth clubs, corporate and service-oriented community groups to lend a hand before, during and after our events. Whether you’re living with MS and just want to say thank you at the Finish Line or you’re ready to captain a rest stop, there’s a place for you at Bike MS!

When you volunteer, you become part of the MS movement – a community of passionate individuals working together to create a world free of MS. Together we provide support, have fun and make a difference for the nearly 1 million people living with MS in the United States.

Volunteers will be staffing the Friends of the Fair Pork booth during the Clermont County Fair. This is the main fundraiser of our organization & we are excited to be BACK in 2021! We love our volunteers and provide a fun & energizing work environment. Volunteers receive FREE entry to the fair for the day that they volunteer.

Opportunity Details

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana (RMHC-CNI) is committed to providing daily, nutritious meals for the families we serve. Meal Helpers play a critical role in this service by working alongside our culinary team to ensure the successful execution of comforting meals for families at the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s.

Key Responsibilities:
• Help execute meals planned by the culinary team by following recipes, prepping ingredients, cooking dishes, and packing food into individual containers.
• Maintain an organized and functional kitchen by cleaning after food preparation, emptying dishwashers, running sanitizers, restocking pantries, deep cleaning, and properly storing food.
• Manage the dining room during meal service by providing direction to guest families, upholding all COVID-19 safety measures for diners, and consistently sanitizing and cleaning tables.
• If a Culinary Hearts volunteer group is present to prepare a meal during your shift:
o Act as a second-in-command to our culinary team, providing direction to and answering the questions of group participants.
o Support the culinary team in preparing for volunteer groups: gather needed supplies and ingredients, start on recipes, manage food deliveries, inventory supplies, and bring items to/from the kitchen and storage spaces as needed.
o Speak confidently to each volunteer meal group about their involvement, our House kitchen, and their impact on our mission.

Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Comfortable cooking and knowledgeable in the kitchen, to be an asset to our culinary team.
• Adept at cleaning and maintaining a high-level of organization.
• Ability to work confidently in a busy kitchen environment.
• Willingness to work professionally and collaboratively with volunteers and RMHC-CNI staff.
• Agreement with and alignment to all RMHC-CNI rules, policies and protocols, including adherence to all safety/participation requirements in the wake of COVID-19.
• Must be capable of standing for each three-hour shift, and must be able to carry 35 pounds.
• Volunteers must be dependable, trustworthy, friendly and flexible.

Time Commitment and Scheduling:
• Volunteers must commit to two, three hours shifts per month for at least one year.
• Meal Helper shifts are currently available Thursday-Sunday, 10:00am-1:00pm and 1:00-4:00pm.

Training and Support:
• Volunteers must complete an orientation, background check and on-site shadow shifts.
• Meal Helpers report to our culinary team and House Managers.

The youth from Rohlers Assembly of God are having a Missions Benefit Auction to raise money to support one of our young missionary families in Cureval, Columbia, to renovate a campground to be used to help children and youth, train and house missions teams, and host events. Our youth cannot go physically on a missions trip this summer due to covid-19 restrictions, but wanted to help raise money for a worthy cause.
