Our organization is here to help the homeless, low income, and those living from paycheck-to-paycheck, with a few groceries for FREE. In our today’s economy, as we all know, the prices on food has gone up tremendously, and if we can give a smile or a little hope just through giving out food, then so be it, but we need your help to distribute the food to those in need.Available Shifts

The OrganizationSeattle-based nonprofit XBOT Robotics inspires and prepares students in traditionally underserved communities to pursue STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning and careers through mentored robotics competitions and hands-on projects. We have a 20-year history of providing students with free or low-cost opportunities to have fun while developing skills and gaining experiences they can use to secure summer internships, college admissions, and ultimately well-paying jobs in STEAM disciplines. Our programs typically engage approximately 800 students per year, and our goal is to engage 1800 students per year by the school year 2024-25.
The Role
The food coordinator ensures that food is provided both for practices and events. Our current modality uses restaurant food and delivery which is a significant expense; typically, about $600 feeding about 45 people (students and mentors). Our goal is to reduce these costs by leveraging community kitchens, home cooks, or lower cost caterers.
This is a year-round need, but the immediate problem is for the FRC season with dates:
- Kickoff - Saturday, January 6, 2024 @ 9AM Pacific time
- Practices for the season: Tue, Thur (6 – 9PM), and Saturday (9AM – 3PM)
- XBOT competition #1: Auburn High School - March 8th,9th, and 10th
- XBOT competition #2: Sammamish High School - March 22nd, 23rd, 24th
- IF we qualify for the Pacific Northwest District Championship in Portland, Oregon:- April 3rd to April 6th
- IF we qualify for the FIRST Championship (a.k.a., "Worlds") in Houston, TX: April 19th to April 22nd.
This role is open to anyone. Ideally, the volunteer is located in the Seattle area and has great organization and communication skills. Food will be provided for all practices and competitions.
