Parade Staging Guides 6:00am - 12:00pm Parade Staging Guides: Assist with check-in; direct units to staging location Super Volunteers 5:30am - 1:30pm Super Volunteer: For volunteers that have no preference ...can volunteer for any task, at any time. You will be assigned a specific task on site. Senior Parade Marshal 5:00 am – 2:00 pm (Carmen & CJ) Directs all entries into position for forward movement in the parade. Works with the Parade Chair, TPD and HIS to ensure the safe entry and flow of the parade from the parade starting point.
Parade Setup/Breakdown Assistants (COMMITTEE) (need 20+) 5:30am - 10am and 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm Parade Setup/Breakdown Assistants: Setup tables, post signage, hang banners and remove them before and after the parade, position trash cans, setup hospitality tent assist where needed.
Parade Hospitality 5:30 am – 10:30 am (NEED 10) Parade Hospitality Assistants: Assist with the distribution of hot drinks, soft drinks, keeping the tent free of debris, directing dignitaries, participants to the correct spot for parade participation as needed.
Float/Entry Feeders 5 am - 12 pm (NEED 10) Float Feeders: the primary responsibility is to move floats/entries into proper division order and will direct floats accordingly in a timely fashion; once the parade commences, these volunteers will get direction to release floats into the parade flow.
Parade Section Marshals 6:00am - 1:30pm (NEED 20) Parade Section Marshals: Guide/direct a set of entries of the parade to maintain spacing, watch participants for possible problems such as break down, injury; watch people on sidewalk/sides of street for incursion into line of the march, assist with crowd control in the event of an emergency.
Parade Direction Assistants 6:00am - 1:30pm (NEED 10) Parade Direction Assistants: Direct parade units to make correct turning points; assist with pedestrian control at intersections when parade approaches
Disbanding Parade Assistants (NEED 6) 11:00am – 2:00 pm Disbanding Parade Assistants: Direct parade units to correct disbanding areas; assist with parade control at the end of the parade.
Communication Marshals 5:30 am – 12 noon (NEED 3) Assists parade chair by coordinating media opportunities before, during and after the parade. Will know all logistics and points of contact for the parade prior to start.
Dignitary Marshals 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (NEED 3) Coordinating all the dignitaries and special guests for the parade at the Command Post tent is vital to the beginning of the parade. Ensures that the Mayor, Council members, Legislators, Founders and Board members are in place either at the banner or on a trolley or in a limo prior to the beginning whistle. Informs chair of those attending so that the commentators can recognize their participation at the grandstand.
Parade Tabulators 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (NEED 2) will receive the judging score sheets, tabulate them in the designated system and generate the winners list from the tabulated information. They will submit the tabulated scores to the judging marshal who will verify the scores and submit the overall winners list to the Parade Chair for announcement and publication.
Parade Judges 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (NEED 10): will score each entry to be judged based on the criteria assigned. They will sign the scored sheet and submit it to the Judging Marshal who will submit it for tabulation. If an error is made or a score needs to be changed before submission, judges are to mark out their initial score with one line, initial it and put in the correct score per the criterion. No judge will be directly affiliated with any of the judged participants of the parade, otherwise they must recuse themselves from judging that entity.

Cherrywood Art Fair is an art-filled two-day event showcasing local artists, live music, kids activities and great food in a free, family-friendly environment. More than 8,000 visitors stroll through the fairgrounds looking at art, listening to beautiful music and sampling some of Austin’s finest food trailer cuisine. Since its 2002 inception, the Fair has served as a destination for discerning holiday shoppers seeking unique and artful items from Texas artists and makers.

Proceeds benefit the Little Artist BIG ARTIST arts mentoring program that pairs East Austin elementary school students with professional artists.

We need volunteers of all ages and skill sets to put on our fantastic holiday event. Like to do hard work and heavy lifting? Sign-up for Set-up or Breakdown. Are you outgoing and enjoy talking to people? We’d love to have you on our Info & Guest Services or Artist Relief Crew. Organized and personable? You might enjoy our Silent Auction Crew.

Shifts are 2-4 hours long. Most opportunities take place Dec. 8-110, 2017, but there are a few pre-event positions, too. Here’s what you get out of the deal:

We will be looking for volunteers who have an interest in working with children in the arts and willing to play sports( we will have soccer and goalie equipment, basketballs, baseball equipment, Kan Jam Disc games Frisbees games etc.) , who are working on a career in art therapy, play therapy or other child based degrees. All are welcome to locate an event, festival or opportunity in their area that would like us to come to their community.
