The 25th annual D.A.R.E. Middle School Basketball Classic will involve approx. 425 participants from ABSS middle schools in the area. This is a youth focused event designed to promote student involvement in positive alternative activities as well as show the importance of making safe and responsible decisions. Kohl's volunteers have assisted with this tournament the past few years. They will be engaged in event set up, concessions, ticket sales and other tasks to assist staff. (Kohl's volunteers have been instrumental in helping ensure the tournament has been a success each time they have been involved.)

Opportunity Details

What: 12th Annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament

Where: Brooks Middle School Gym, 350 Blair Lane, Bolingbrook, IL 60440 (use Door #4)

When: Sunday, March 5th, 2023

Why: Give teens a chance who otherwise wouldn’t have an opportunity to play organized basketball.

Total Event Time: 12:30 – 7:00pm (depending on tie breakers. There will be a 15 minute awards ceremony at the end of the tournament.)

Total Volunteer Time: 10:30 am - 7:30pm (different shifts start at different times)

Volunteers needed in the following areas:

1. Setting up/ Greeting
2. Team registration and check in
3. Volunteer Check In
4. Selling Tickets
5. Concessions
6. Break down and clean up

A few volunteer notes:

· We are in the Brooks Middle School Gym (NOT Bolingbrook High School, as in previous years) Use Door #4 and park anywhere in the lot.
· Doors open at 12:00 to the audience
· Tickets are $1 for audience members
· Tournament starts at 12:30
· Awards ceremony is immediately follows Championship Game (at approximately 6:45 pm)
· All shifts overlap by 15 minutes so that volunteers can train their replacements before their shift is over
· There will be between 1-4 games going at one time
· Volunteers will be given an H2O volunteer lanyard and a name tag to be used for the day to identify them as a volunteer. Volunteers should wear comfortable, casual clothes.
· If you are a Kohl's Cares Volunteer, please feel free to wear your team shirt.

** ANYONE WORKING TICKETS SHOULD BRING A WARM JACKET AS THE TICKET TABLE MAY BE BY THE DOOR **
