Opportunity Details

The Community House is a nonprofit that is home to those seeking continuity between personal, professional, philanthropic and recreational pursuits. For nearly a century, we have provided an extraordinary destination where people can come together to enjoy extraordinary experiences. From educational development to the early planning of life's landmark events...from business to pleasure, from charity to recreation...it all starts at The Community House.

Volunteers have been involved in every aspect of The Community House life for 95 years. They give the “House” a face, a voice, helping hands, and a heart. Volunteers are the life of The Community House, the vital force that carries out our mission of serving an ever-growing, ever-changing community. As a volunteer, you link us to the many neighborhoods, towns and cities that make up the broad range of communities we serve and most of all, you are our best ambassadors.

• Volunteers provide support for activities, programs, and special events
• The Community House welcomes, encourages, supports and trains volunteers in keeping with their interests and abilities
• The Community House recognizes the volunteers as valuable contributors to the community

The Community House wouldn't be the extraordinary place it is today if it wasn't for our extraordinary volunteers. As a volunteer, you will be a part of a very important team of dedicated workers who help carry out our mission in the communities we serve.

Get involved with on-site activities:

Administrative Offices (filing, word processing, etc.)
Guest Services Receptionist (answer phone, greet public and direct guests)
Mailings (stuff and seal envelopes, adhere labels)
Class Host (take attendance, assist instructors)
StoryTellers Guild (storytelling in local schools)
INTERVIEW AND TRAINING—

Once an individual completes and returns a volunteer application, he/she will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator Allison Peters for an interview to discuss their areas of interest. Their name will then be placed on a potential volunteer list for the appropriate event/activity. Prior to a special event, volunteers are contacted by the Volunteer Department to confirm their schedule. Training sessions for volunteers may be held before each special event in order to communicate the volunteers’ job descriptions. Volunteers will have a trial period of six months, to ensure their performance meets their expectations and those of The Community House. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please contact the volunteer coordinator Allison Peters, 248.644.5832 or apeters@communityhouse.com

The tournament raises awareness and operating funds for the Carlisle CARES mission, which is to provide emergency shelter for the homeless. This year is especially important as the CARES organization was forced to purchase a new bus to transport it's residents to the churches. This was an unexpected expense in the 2018-2019 budget. The golf tournament will cover a portion of the purchase of the bus.

June 9 and 10, 2018, Bolingbrook Lions Club will host its 17th annual Beep Baseball Tournament. Beep baseball is a sport which allows sight impaired and blind individuals to play a form of competitive baseball.

Bolingbrook Lions Club provides volunteers to support all games and social activities. Volunteers umpire games, prepare and serving food, getting the fields ready, and much more.
We need additional volunteers and financial support to help prepare and set up for lunch, serve food and assist sight impaired individuals to their tables. In addition, we may need volunteers to care for and watch the players seeing eye dogs.
We strive to make this a first-class event for the participants, visitors and volunteers.
